Occasional flickering horizontal lines on my Macbook Air (2011)

It's been happening for a few weeks and I really need to know if it's something bad or not because I can't afford a new laptop. Any ideas?

Hi there,

So this is the closest existing post to my problem, however mine isn't just on my screen its also on external monitors too. See the image - the lines are regularly spaced, just under the toolbar and have multiple coloured pixels. I also have solid white and solid red horizontal lines appearing at random.

This has been accompanied by 1 x sudden restart, and some strange behaviour in Office suite - but only of a type similar to when you need to update the software.

Any thoughts? I'm also on a Macbook Air 2011, Yosemite.

Macbook Pro Mid-2012 (Non-Retina). Same issue there. It happened one or two times lately after few random reboots and kernel panics (dunno why). Today, i leaved my macbook turned on for the night, dimmed off display backlight and in the morning after return backlight on 100% - there it is.

Still can't find the answer.. My problem is that i can't take macbook to nearest genius bar - in Moscow there's no Genius Bars or Official Apple (not to mention online store), only official resellers. And another problem is that i've changed ram, installed second HDD in dvd-rom tray, so even authorized support service (repair services) will not be objective, i'm afraid..

Don't hold my poor english against me =)
