Unable to delete second partition

Hello,

I hope someone can help me.

I created a second partiton on my MacBook Pro Retina (512GB) and installed OSX Yosemite Beta 1 on it. So far so good.

I find this first beta version to be very buggy, so I wanted to delete this partition.

Now if I open Disk Utility, under 'partition' everything is greyed out, and somehow my ssd changed name to 'OSX Yosemite' (same name as my second partition).

Also it says down in the description that it is a 'Logical Volume Group', and that the capacity amounts to 40GB, but that's the space I gave to my second partition.

Attached you can find some screen grabs.

Has someone had the same problem?

Thanks

I have the same problem

However, you can't delete the partition without formatiing the whole disk. I hope you have a backup.

I don't know whats wrong with this beta.

Agree the encryption is something to be aware of...however the steps above will still work all you have to do is click on Yosemite and click mount on top and enter your password before proceeding to erase the partition. It is advised to change it to a journaled non-encrypted partition when erasing. Thanks for pointing this extra step out Blastonia

APPLE GENIUS BAR HELPED ME

so basically mac detected OSX Yosemite BETA is much superior and newer than OSX Mavericks, so it made it the main partition. and you can't delete that main. so this is the fastest way to solve this prob

ON MAVERICKS:

open disk utility > (yosemite is default drive) press the yosemite beta partition > erase the data in the partition (partition still there) > after erasing it, mac detects OSX Mavericks is the main cuz yosemite is gone, and everything is back to normal (mavericks is main partitition) > so press the main partition (the most top one) and press partition > select the yosemite partition > press "-" > done

hoped this helped 😀
