RSD repair times?

I sent in my mac book last sunday and it shows that it has been received by apple since the 6th. I have called apple care a few times and have been told that my part is on order.

Just curious how long did it take everyone else out there to have your computers repaired?

MacBook 2.0 ghz White, Mac OS X (10.4.7), I own a gateway now due to RSS

Don't get your hopes up. They received mine on the 14th of Sept, and the status stated 'Repair in progress' on the same day. I was happy to assume that I wasn't affected by the 'Waiting for parts' once i saw that it was being repaired. But today, unfortunately, it says 'On hold - Need information'...

Whatever that's supposed to mean. =/ Any insight on what this implies?

The website says 'diagnosing' since 9/1. Called AC on 7th. The lady told me by the way "oh yes, engineering start diagnosing your mb today". I asked her *** they where doing the last seven days?
It tooks her 5 minutes "grumble-grumble, skip sites, ask here and there, mmh yes, let´s see, what is this? umpf, oh no, thats not what i´m looking for. hold on. give me a minute. thank you for waiting, hold on: probably the site is not updated! She wrote a mail asking for a refresh of the repair-status. It could take "3 to 4 days, ´cause it is ... bla bla bla! Holy Caneloni, it *****!

I just got off the phone after a nice 45 minute wait with cruddy music with a lurch-esque type computer voice saying "all of our representatives are busy at this time...please wait". when i finally got to speak to a carbon based lifeform, she told me that my macbook's part came in(brought in for repair on 9/9 ) and that it would be going through testing before it ships out on either monday or later. :/ when i asked about this heatsink issue i got this response: "I wouldn't be able to answer that question since i'm not on site to check the revisions on such components"......hmmmmmmm. :/

<fingers crossed>

Mine was send to Apple Repair due to RSD on august 19 and Received it only on sept 9, after 5 days of regular used, i send it again on Sept 15 due to RSD again... this experience really TOO much for a $1500 macbook... NOW its waiting time again, they will now replace again my LB with the now redesigned bundled heatsink and i dont know when i can have it back... this is TOO much...

my status was finally updated to repair done- return pending today (see below), after being on hold for 'parts'. The repair only took 7 days there... though it took a while for the box to get shipped to me, since it was over labor day weekend. My macbook was in for logic board replacement to fix the RSD, discolored plastics, and almost inaudible speakers. I hope they didn't just fix the logic board and not the heat sink or whatever else solves RSD permanently, to put me off a while longer...because if its only a logic board I can probably expect then that i'll get the problem again.

I told applecare in no uncertain terms, that if this were not fixed correctly and permanently the first time, i would be expecting a brand new replacement (or a refund) regardless of their 'policy'. .. i recommend that everyone else do the same. For me, this computer replaced my ibook which was recalled under the ibook logic board repair program... i had my logic board replaced twice, and they put in the same faulty logic board to fix it. The third time it went, it killed the entire laptop - and it was no longer 'eligible' for the repair program, since it was more than three years old. So i bought the macbook to replace it. I will not let them do that to me again.

i'll report back if the computer comes back fixed - or not. Lets hope apple wised up and fixed the problem right, rather than put a band aid on a gaping wound. I strongly suspect they wanted to keep this major problem quiet right on the heels of the huge flaming-battery recall that was all over the news...

Well that blows... mine's been "On Hold - Part on Order" since September 1st and it still says that. I called on the 14th and the CS person told me it was being repaired. It would certainly be reassuring if I could verify that on the repair status page.
😟

I think I'll call and ask for them to install an upgrade for keeping me waiting.
