Match process stalling out at end

I've been using iTunes Match for about a year and a half and have started experiencing a new problem in the last couple of days. I've added a few new tracks to my library over the last couple of days and have attempted to "Update iTunes Match." However, the matching process is stalling out at the end. It looks like it's just about to finish but then it never does. I have downloaded the most up-to-date version of iTunes, I have stopped and restarted the "Update iTunes Match" process numerous times. I have closed and reopened iTunes several times. I have restarted my computer and started over. Etc. Etc. and the same problem keeps occurring. Last night, I let the matching process continue overnight and it still had not finished in the morning. I am at my wit's end at this point. It's only 11 new songs that I'm trying to get iTunes to Match. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to resolve this problem? Thanks!

Hi,

Have you tried holding option key whilst turning off match? Try this and then close itunes. Turn on match and select add this computer.

If this does not work, try creating a new blank library. Turn on match and once process is complete you will see all music that is in the cloud. If you see the latest tracks but are greyed-out, delete them. Go back to your original library, delete those tracks but don't move to trash. Before adding them back, turn on match and see if process completes. If this works, readd those tracks and select update imatch.

In a word, yes. I have read through all the suggestions, and tried all of the tips found on the Discussions board. When I try to create a new library, the Match process stalls at the new songs. I can access what I have stored and can download, but not Match the new songs.

Are you able to Match songs? In other words, is it just certain users or everyone who is having the problem?

Hey guys. Ive been running into quite a bit of problems with uploade, editing, updating my iTunes Match account. Too much to get into to detail but I will say thins.

"Update iTunes Match." is a decieving menu item. It doesnt do what you think it does. Trust me, I thought the same thing. Many others have too. What that command does is update whatever library your looking at with whats currently in the cloud. Its pushing data to you. Not you to the cloud. If youre adding music to you're library, just add it and let iTunes push it to the cloud. Be a little patient. Its not lighting fast. Like I said, just add it and let it be.

Next if your Match is stalling at the end of an upload. Specifically of a larger lot of music. Turn off iTunes Match. Update Genius then turn Match back on. It may hang again but just run that sequence until its finishes. I cant tell you exactly what Genius has to do with it but it worked for me. I was uploading 11,000 tracks yesterday and it kept hanging at 9000. Someone recomended this sequence to me and it work like a charm. Although I had to run it two or three times, it zipped right through the last 2000 in no time and my entire library was uploaded perfectly.

Hope this helps.

Hi George. I appreciate your thoughts and input. However, the issue I and others are experiencing is not necessarily analogous to what you're describing.

I'm not a new iTunes Match user. As I mentioned in my original post, I've been using the service for 1.5 years. I've been adding tracks to the cloud on a weekly basis for this length of time. I'm fairly familiar with what's involved to get the tracks to be pushed to the cloud. I have 21,200 tracks in my iTunes library, all but 11 of which have already been through the matching process.

At this point, new tracks are not reaching the end of the matching process with any of the suggestions mentioned in this thread. I'm only trying to add 11 new tracks currently. I don't think patience is the issue. It's been over 2 days now with no success adding 11 tracks.

Based on the number of people that have begun experiencing this problem over the last couple of days, I can only hope that it is a temporary issue that will be fixed soon.

I hear ya Ray. Ive quite a bit of experince with Match mysels, Been using it since day one and a few months back I decided to really go through my library and organize. On a serious level. Tons of new meta data, artwork ect. I started running into huge problems with Match constantly pushing old data back. Uncountable wasted hours. I eventually had to have a teir 3 support team nuke my Match library so I could re-upload the one I had rebuilt on my local drive. That was yesterday after a few months of trying to figure it out. My suggestiong in my first post were based on the trouble I was having yesterday uplaoding that new library. Been a long and painful process.

Sounded like we had some similar issue with an upload becoming stuck. I was surprised that a few updates to genius and a few on/off toggles of Match worked but it did.

You got a significant amount of music. Even though you're a bit away from the 25,000 uplaod allowance, I wonder if the large amount you do have is an issue. Call support. I was able to make a phone call appointment online and request no fee and they had no problem with it. You;re paying for the service. You should be supported.

Good luck.

I have two extra laptops in my house that, while the get very little use, have both been added to my iTunes Match account in the past. For troubleshooting purposes, I pulled out these two extra computers this morning and opened iTunes. I then added the same 11 new tracks to iTunes on both of these extra computers this morning. Long story short, I have now tried to get 11 new tracks to go through the matching process on three different household computers and have been unsuccessful in doing so in all cases.

Thanks George. Again, I do appreciate your time and feedback. Sorry to hear about your problems with the service and I'm glad you've got them under control now.

I will probably give this a few more days to see if the problem works itself out on it's own before taking further action but I will definitely call support if the issue persists longer than that. Speaking of which, does anyone happen to have the support number handy? I seem to have trouble locating it whenever I have tried to look in the past.

On a side note, I noticed today that the new version of iTunes does not appear to have "iCloud Status" (matched, uploaded, waiting) as a view option (like previous versions did). This is kind of irritating because that was one of the first columns in iTunes that I liked to see on my screen.

This is where I eventually was albe to find the correct support. I made a phone call appointment. I think you can just calle apple care directly too. I was able to request "no charge" by making an appointment though. Not sure how that works if you call directly.

As far as the "iCloud Status" options, I feel like I noticed the same thing when I was dealing with this last night and the optioned reappeared when my Match Upload was complete and I had no "stuck" tracks. I'll look when I get home tonight and post back.

Hi Ryan.

Just to chime in on this thread.

I also have 3 mac computers - and cannot upload match tracks on any.

I've also tried on different networks / ISP's - so I feel confident that there is nothing that I can do to resolve this on my end.

The odd question is why is this happening to just a small segment of users? I mean the iTunes Match status page shows all green and volume of complains here is relatively low considering the total userbase.

It must be something specific to our case - which who can even imagine given all the possibilities - however I do have 16K tracks (about 98GB stored in cloud) and have been a match user since the beginning. Perhaps this is only affecting users with higher track counts?
