Match process stalling out at end

I've been using iTunes Match for about a year and a half and have started experiencing a new problem in the last couple of days. I've added a few new tracks to my library over the last couple of days and have attempted to "Update iTunes Match." However, the matching process is stalling out at the end. It looks like it's just about to finish but then it never does. I have downloaded the most up-to-date version of iTunes, I have stopped and restarted the "Update iTunes Match" process numerous times. I have closed and reopened iTunes several times. I have restarted my computer and started over. Etc. Etc. and the same problem keeps occurring. Last night, I let the matching process continue overnight and it still had not finished in the morning. I am at my wit's end at this point. It's only 11 new songs that I'm trying to get iTunes to Match. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to resolve this problem? Thanks!

Updating of iTunes Match has been working for me for the last week, this is after I had disabled it on my (only) Mac, and re-enabled the normal 'Select Playlists/Artists/Album pane in my iPhone's sync pane within iTunes, which in itself was a somewhat difficult task, as the pane took some time to show up again after switching off iTunes Match, and only reappeared after several quit/reopens of iTunes.

iTM had been disabled for nearly 2 weeks, though I can't see why this would have had anything to do with it now working properly.

What is still not functioning properly is the download songs option on either my iPhone 4S or my iPad Air - on attempting to download an entire album that has been uploaded to iTunes Match, at least 2 of the downloads will 'freeze', although connecting the device to power while it is downloading seems to help this issue, it can still take several hours for all the songs to download properly.

I think the latest itunes update messed it up not that Apple WOULD EVER acknowledge this

Funny enough when I was talking to Apple Care yesterday they did acknowledge the latest update caused many issues with iTunes Match. Apparently they're trying to figure out if it needs another update or can be fixed on the back end.

Either way, this morning iTunes Match has been working flawlessly for me (after a week or so of issues)

So I just tried adding a new album to iTunes Match, and it was fast. Like real fast. Like I've never seen it so fast. Except for the uploads, but my internet is kinda slow, so that's to be expected.

Steps 1 and 2 were over in under two minutes -- I've never seen it take less than five minutes, even before all the problems started.

So that's something.

So, I was trying to get iTunes Match to work and came upon discussions which talked about the way Apple uses Akamai for it's content delivery network (CDN) and the problems that result because of that. What happens is that Akamai is responsible for delivering the iTunes match content and it determines the servers and paths used for this delivery. Well, the way it does that and the servers it designates can be overloaded or at a bad location causing connections for iTunes match to timeout. So, to solve this I needed to take out my location by using a VPN. So, all I did was setup a PPTP VPN in network preferences on my Mac using vpnbook and I specified that my network traffic goes through that VPN. So, when I have this VPN turned on for my Mac, my iTunes match and all other iTunes services work as they are supposed to. This is still not right that I have to do this just to get iTunes to work. It slows down network connections, etc. Apple why do you let your third party providers do this to your customers ???
