Match process stalling out at end

I've been using iTunes Match for about a year and a half and have started experiencing a new problem in the last couple of days. I've added a few new tracks to my library over the last couple of days and have attempted to "Update iTunes Match." However, the matching process is stalling out at the end. It looks like it's just about to finish but then it never does. I have downloaded the most up-to-date version of iTunes, I have stopped and restarted the "Update iTunes Match" process numerous times. I have closed and reopened iTunes several times. I have restarted my computer and started over. Etc. Etc. and the same problem keeps occurring. Last night, I let the matching process continue overnight and it still had not finished in the morning. I am at my wit's end at this point. It's only 11 new songs that I'm trying to get iTunes to Match. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to resolve this problem? Thanks!

I am experiencing the same problem here Ryan. It started sometime this week. I write/record music in Logic Pro and use iTunes to make a version available on my phone through Match.

Now iTunes Match gets stuck at Step 2 of the matching process and won't upload my new songs. Really disappointing, especially as we pay for the service.

Hi there,

I did speak with her today. Nothing got resolved. I deleted all files that were unmatched (kept the files though). I explained to her that I thought it had to do with songs that did not match in the store would not be uploaded. So, while on the phone with her, I imported an album that I knew would not match - Tool Undertow. Wouldn't you know it, it didn't match, but uploaded just fine. So, she then asked me to make a list of items that were not matching and not uploading. I sent that to her, and that is where we stand. She says she is putting thin in front of engineering, but who knows.

I have pointed her to this thread on multiple occasions so that she is aware it is not isolated to me, but to several paying customers. Very frustrating. I will update again when I speak to her.

Some tracks I added to my iTunes library a few days ago were successfully uploaded, but I have not been successful in getting any more tracks to upload since then. I didn't do anything different for those uploaded tracks, so I'm not sure why it actually worked that time. I now have around 100 songs that are "waiting" to be uploaded (these are all tracks that would have no match in the iTunes store).

I'm still waiting for the same 11 tracks to upload or match. None of them have made it through the process in the last 5 plus or minus days. I've noticed quite a few people posting about this same issue outside of this thread on these discussion boards, including people in multiple countries. It seems like this is impacting a large number of users. Hopefully, some corrective action gets taken soon. This is getting kind of ridiculous.

Of note is that one poster in another thread - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3664758?answerId=26132440022#26132440022 - indicates the following:

"Sadly this is a recognised worldwide issue at present - Apple has acknowledged that its iTunes Match servers are overloaded and it is likely to take many

days to resolve.

I'm not sure where or how this poster received this information because I haven't heard anyone else report that Apple has acknowledged anything with regard to this issue.

Hi Ryan:

I agree with you that Apple still has never acknowledged the problem even exist.

If you go to: http://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/ - it shows all OK green buttons for every service. Now the possibility exist that this page is a simple static page, one that always shows "all systems OK".

Three things have become clear during this episode:

1. Apple employees evidently don't use Match. If you were a music lover, that regularly used Match to upload tracks to sync across your devices, this outage would've been discovered over the last week. Its sort of shocking that a global outage such as this can persist for 7 days now without anyone who actually sells the service from bothering to notice.

2. Related to above, its clear Apple has no real testing or automated service status alerts. Any competent development group would have automated test scripts that test various use cases of their product. So for instance, "uploaded a new track into Apple Match servers" would be such a test case. If such a test case failed, then you would expect an alert to be sent out to Apple employees so they could investigate.

3. Finally, have you actually ever browsed this https://discussions.apple.com/community/itunes/itunes_match site? Its essentially overrun with Indian spam. Thousands of fake spam post are made every minute. Trying to wade through all of this in hope of finding 'support' is laughable.

That should be an obvious clue that no one from Apple ever looks here. I honestly don't know what Apple thinks they are accomplishing by having this site? Its an insult to their clients, and its an insult to Apple's name to have their 'customer relations' site completely overrun with Indian 'black magic spam'. It would be far far better for Apple's image for them to simply delete this entire site and let customer discussions happen elsewhere. At least a 3rd party site would care enough to install a spam filter.

I have the exact same problem. I have two new albums, converted them to mp3 and to test it to mp4. As soon as I try to match, iTunes starts to stall. I let it run over a whole night and nothing's changed.

Two albums which songs are even in the iTunes store but matching hangs. It seems to be a problem on Apple's side but the iCloud status is still green. I hope somebody will fix this. I love iTunes Match but not that many people seem to know about it or use it so if something goes wrong it doesn't really seem to alert any systems.

Please fix this. I am paying good money every year for this service.

I've been having the same issue for about a week. I use iTunes Match on my work computer and home computer, and neither has been able to update successfully. I've had a few new albums pending for days, and have tried adding them to both libraries (on both computers), reinstalling iTunes, logging out of iTunes/iTunes Match, and just about every other trick in the book.

This needs to be fixed—I can't get my new music on my phone or devices!!!

Finally spoke with a Senior Advisor who has been getting more and more calls about iTunes Match. We tried one remedy that didn't work. Since I had already tried the other possible fixes on my own, he sent the case to Engineering. He said he would get back to me when he heard back from them. So no resolution yet, but the good news is that the problem is definitely on their radar now.
