Can't change iTunes music for slideshows in iPhoto

I've never been able to change slide show music from Theme to one of my playlists in iTunes when using iPhoto. I can see them and select and save but when I start the show it goes back to Theme.

I'm using 9.5.1 iPhoto on a 27 inch Mac desktop running 10.9.3.

Any suggestions?

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Okay, an apparent work around.

If I do everything cited previously but also highlight and select the individual songs in the playlist I'm attempting to use, then hit play, it works. In other words simply selecting and saving the playlist is not enough. That also then becomes the default playlist.

I'm not sure if I have to go through the same process if I wanted to change the music but at this point anything is better than Red Garland "Hey Now" (no offense Red).

Yes. iPhoto has been discontinued as far as continued development is concerned and will be replaced by a new app called "Photos" that will be released sometime this spring. The current iPhoto will continue to work with Yosemite.

If you have Lion or later boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down), select Disk Utility and repair both the disk and disk permissions. Reboot normally and try again.

Little busy right now but I will give that a try and let you know how it goes as soon as possible, Thanks. I did use disk utility to check the disk (no problems) and then to repair permissions (there were issues) as per your previous instruction, but not while in the recovery volume.

Thanks for the update on iPhoto; I hope there are user improvements as well as whatever else they're doing. I have about 50k images in iPhoto now, adding more all the time, and find navigating within Events to be challenging. Ditto when importing large numbers of photos I ultimately want in separate Events. I lose track of what's where. I get done what I need to do but not without problems.

One way to keep complete control of your photos and be able to fine them easily in iPhoto is to follow this type of workflow:

1 - upload the photos to a folder on the Desktop.

2 - group the photos into sub folders as desired.

3 - rename the folders/sub folders to allow easy identification.

4 - use a file renaming app like Name Mangler to sequentially rename the photos with the date taken and a brief description (optional).

User uploaded file

4 - import the folders into iPhoto.

A little effort up front can eliminate a lot of searching time later on. Now you can search by name, title partial title, date, etc.
