Iphoto not responding..

I tried every method mentioned about iphoto..then eventually I had to uninstall and reinstall the app at the expense of my archive..How ever iphoto still screws up..It does not respond to any commands..I am using the latest OS X..and just downloaded the app from app store..What is wrong with apple nowadays?

FileVault should have no effect on iPhoto.

It does, Linc, when the library has referenced originals. I could reproduce the problem several times in iPhoto and Aperture, when the library contained referenced originals. Both applications regarded the referenced files as off-line. I don't want to start a fight over that, but I prefer to have this complication eliminated from this trouble shooting.

If you're getting the same behavior in two different accounts, see below.

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.

If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.

There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.

If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.

*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

I did install again and followed your list. However the result is the same:

This is the best case scenario which occurs when the Icloud tab is deactivated. The mouse activates among the tabs and can open it, but whenever I try to import something, here is what I come across;

User uploaded file

The worst case scenario occurs when I activate the icloud:

User uploaded file

When I do this, the iphotos turn into total unresponsive mode.

ALSO I WONDER WHY IT ASKS ME TO SWITCH THE LIBRARY! SINCE I TOTALLY ERASED MY DATA(ALL LIBRARIES) AS WELL AS THE APP, AND DOWNLOAD IT FROM APP STORE AS A NEW USER, I SHOULD NOT HAVE A ALREADY USED IPHOTO LIB. ON MY ICLOUD. AM I RIGHT?

You made it Linc..the problem is solved and case is closed. Guess what,,the apps are also working more perfectly than they have never done before. All other software problems are gone as well after I just reinstall the OS X. The iphoto perectly works with my ipad and iphone now and instantaneously synchronizes the files pics..you name it..All in all,,you made it dude..by the way I am sincerely thankful for everyone who tried to give me hand for the solution of my problem..I love apple discussions..that conrtibutes to the brand at least as much as the products that apple sell...thanks again..
