Itunes keeps changing my song info that I have changed in the past back to the info when I bought it.

So I am using Itunes for Windows 8 on my laptop and for certain songs, I change the song information to keep my library more organized. For instance, if I bought a single from the itunes store, when the album comes out I change the song information to the album. However, itunes keeps changing this information back, but the weird thing is if I play the song or hit "get song info" then the information is automatically changed to what I set it to. However, every time I open itunes, all my info is changed again, and if I don't play the song or hit get song info, the information that I don't want is snychronized to my iphone. Any suggestions?

In iTunes go to Edit > Preferences > Store and turn off

  • Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases
  • Share details about your library with Apple

On any iOS device go to Settings > Music and turn off

Show All Music

Close iTunes. Reopen. You may see your changed data straight away, or it may revert when you play content.

Hello again tt2.

Just to let you know, my iTunes issues have finally been resolved - thank you so much!

I downloaded the latest version of iTunes as another was released during this conversation. I turned off 'show iTunes in the cloud purchases', which seems to have prevented my song information from changing randomly. It has been several weeks since the issue, so i thought it was a good time to post this, incase others are having similar issues.

Have a great christmas!

Finally figured it out!!! Basically, I always change my album info on songs I purchase from iTunes. Since the big iTunes update last year, every time I opened iTunes, something would change my album info back to the original purchase info. For example, I bought the album "Gold: Bachman-Turner Overdrive." I went in and manually changed the album info to correspond to the original album name. But when I closed and opened iTunes the next day, iTunes would change the album name back to the purchased name. Here's the fix. Select a song and hit "ctrl I" to get the song info to come up. Now click on "SORTING." Go four lines down and change the field "sort as" to the album name you want and it will stay that way!!! Happy sorting!

I like to change the information when I download a song e.g. "I Don't Get Tired (Feat. August Alsina)" would be what is shown on iTunes but when I click "get info" I change it to "I Don't Get Tired" and the artist info is changed to "Kevin Gates Feat. August Alsina" and the album artist is Kevin Gates. However, the artist tags have gotten changed. For example, now the artist for "I Don't Get Tired" is "Kevin Gates Feat. Boobie Black" which is incorrect. Other examples include "Drake Feat. Travi$ Scott" being changed to "Drake Feat. PARTYNEXTDOOR". In a twist, the artist information for "Lotus Flower Bomb" went from "Wale Feat. Miguel" to simply "Wale". The tags are correct on the desktop iTunes, they have just changed on my phone (iPhone 5).

I know this may be complicated, it would be easier just to show you what I mean, but could someone explain how I get the right information on my phone please?? Thank you

It may be that for your iPhone you have to remove the songs, then put them back again, but rebooting the phone may be enough.
