podcast app opens then closes

Has anyone called or emailed apple?

I can confirm that airplane mode fixed for me too

Echoing others with the same problem. Works fine on airplane mode, so for the time being I guess I'll catch up on my backlog.

Airplane mode worked for me too, but it's a temporary fix!

Same problem for me. Just started a few minutes ago.

Got to be a problem with the software all over. I've tried the normal steps, restarting my phone, uninstalling the app, resetting my phone. Pretty annoying,

SSee the other thread on same subject...iPad air one. Turning off wifi, cell seems to be a temporary fix

I turned it to airplane mode and turned off the Wi-Fi and then switched it back.

It seems to be working fine now.

I have to have my daily fix of Protecting Project Pulp!

Not sure why this is happening but you can enable airplane mode when opening and then disable airplane mode when loaded. Tried downloading, refreshing and accesing podcast store after workaround and works fine until app closed

Same issue here on my iPad 4.

iOS = 7.1.1

Podcast = 2.1.2 (586)

I also have duplicate podcasts which is another rather annoying sync/subscription issue.

Identical problem. Tweeted @iTunesPodcasts about 30 min ago - no response. However the 'airplane mode' fix does workaround the issue for me as well.

For those of you with Bluetooth earbuds (like Im using right now) - airplane mode does not allow for any bluetooth devices to be used. So once I got the podcast up and running for a minute - I turned off airplane mode, phone connected to LTE coverage - podcast still playing!

My app is crashing as well

You can turn on airplane mode, then load the podcast app, and then turn off airplane mode and it will work.

Ok I have tried this on three phones and seems to work.

Put into airplane mode

open podcast app and play a already downloaded podcast. Just say ok to no wifi warning.

Close app

turn off airplane mode

open app and all seems ok, apart from wife's who now seems to be downloading every podcast she has ever had
