see if the movie is in there
I just purchased National Treasure and Pirates of the Caribbean about 2-3 hours ago. It got to the point in the download where it was finished downloading, and it said "processing file." At this point, iTunes quit responding and locked up my entire computer, which forced me to manually shut it off and restart it. Now, my movie downloads are gone. I have some sort of file on my computer (maybe a temp file? I have no idea), but nothing shows in iTunes. What should I do? I spent $20 bucks on these movies, and want to be able to watch them.

go to where your movies are downloaded on your pc (normally in my docs in the itunes folder)
see if the movie is in there

There is two files in each folder, "download.m4v" and "info.plist" both of which don't do anything. I clicked them, and it says that Windows can't open it. Then I tried opening them in iTunes, still nothing.
windows media player cannot play m4v files you would have to open it in quicktime
however if the file is incomplete then it wont play
and i dont know of a way to get it back into itunes to finish the process because although the file has been downloaded it hasnt been completed to make it playable (the process it was doing when your itunes crashed)
make sure the file name ends in .m4v and not .m4v.tmp if it ends in .tmp try deleting the .tmp so it just reads your filename .m4v
(you might have to enable the file extention view for you to be able to change this in the windows folder options from the control pannel
open up the folder options click file types go to .tmp and check view file extention)

The file folders are named National Treasure.tmp and Pirates.tmp, but the files themselves are .m4v files.
I can get them into iTunes, but when they play it is a gray screen and no sound. The menu/chapters are listable, and have pictures, but the movies themselves aren't there.
So basically, I'm stuck with two non-working movies, because there is no way to finish the download without paying another $20.

I had the exact exact problem w/ different movies.
In iTunes at the top, select "Store", then select "Check for purchases".
This should finish up all previously purchased items.

Thank you! That seems to be helping.
im having a similar problem. the movie downloaded fine, but when i go to play it, i get a pinkish screen with just a tiny corner of the video showing, but the audio works...any ideas?
Yes I have had the same problem as well. I am running itunes on windows and just downloaded the newest version of itunes. I purchased Enemy of the State and it took like 18 hours to download but it finaally worked. It then said checking file or something but it started the whole download over! I tried going to the file on the hardrive and it said the whole 1.57gb of it was there but itunes would freeze up if you tried to play it and Quicktime said something like corrupt movie atom. It had to start the download over but its just frustrating to have to wait for the whole thing over. I hope it works this time...
i'm having same problem, i bought three movies and my vaio froze in the middle of the download and now i can't get the movies. i followed instuctions and detailed my issue and "reported a problem from inside my purse history yesterday..i got an email today saying it was undeliverable and have no idea who to contact so i can get my movie. I also tried to follow advice given to someone in previous email(itunes/ my down loads file) i can't even find that file much less see if any thing was even downloaded HELP!!!:-(
Ok I'm having similiar problems. I downloaded the movie then it told me that the file was corrupted and that I would have to redownload it but each time I go to do it and it says an error has occured
I have the same problem. Checking for purchases does not fix anything. Need help please

Not a big shocker here. I wish I could offer help, but all I can do is join the chorus of voices shouting about how Apple has screwed them. My problem was that the movie ("The Great Raid") downloaded, and looked like it was in my Movies folder. Then I shut down my computer normally, and when I came back half an hour later to watch it, it was gone. I searched every *.m4v file on my hard drive and nothing even close was there. Not in the Wastebasket either (why would Apple even suggest to look there? I "forgot" that I deleted it? Right.) But have no fear, I definitely got charged for it. $9.99! What a deal. Has anyone had any luck with their problems yet?
I called apple and they sent me to a webpage to report the problem. I wrote up the e-mail explaining what the problem was and sent it. Within two days (as they promised) they sent me a reply telling me I need the latest version of itunes and quicktime........... I wasn't even allowed to download the movie unless I had the current versions.
I resent the e-mail explaing that I do have the current versions and am expecting a response by tomorrow.
I have faith in the fact that apple will correct this, it won't be right away though. I think the most we can do for now is all send a little e-mail to them. In the e-mail explain that you have the current version of itunes and quicktime and describe the how the movie won't play. Maybe they'll send you with a solution before they update their product.

Did anyone try uninstalling and re-installing quicktime/itunes. This was the next solution in the second e-mail they sent me. I was hesitant because it takes so long on my PC. If it works please post!
