update for 7.1.2 frozen iphone 4s

I am unable to do a hard reset, power button is not working on my phone. Any suggestions? Considering waiting it out until battery dies and once I charge it resets. BTW.. found out the power button not working is a problem recognized by Apple and they are replacing. Sure wish they had contacted me of this information, considering I did go to the apple store to resolve problem when it initially occurred and was told they are unable to repair because I did not have extended warranty and I would have to buy a new phone.

I had the same issue last week. I took the phone to a fix a phone shop and had the guy open it disconnect the battery, after putting it back together I plugged it into iTunes holding the home button and it finished the download with no hard reset, everything still on the phone. This worked in my case but it's just what I chose to do, try at your own risk.

You do realize that you voided your hardware warranty by doing that right?

Wasn't an issue as it was already gone from having the screen replaced. As stated I chose to do it and it's at anyone's risk to do it.

Turn your device off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your device and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a device in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.

My phone froze during the restart as well, but my lock button broke, so i can't do the manual restore thing with the home and lock button. What can i do?

I run the iOS 7.1.2 update and got stuck around 70%. I did the hard reset and it works just fine. Thanks.

I have the same issue but it reached around 97% and has been frozen for the last 12 hours. Nothing works, do I just wait for it to die? Its an iphone 4s and update iOS 8.

No, you should do a reset and try it again. Hold the home & power buttons until the screen goes black and the device restarts.
