iPhone 5 hangs installing ios 7.1.2
Anyone else having issues? My iPhone has stalled at about 65%, not moving for the last 20 minutes. Just showing the white apple symbol and the white line at about 65%. Any suggestions?

wow, saved my day, thanx!
i hope apple does better again next time...
I experienced this problem also, on two separate iPhone 5s models: one OTA update and one via download through iTunes app on PC. Both locked up about 20%. The reset suggestion worked on both phones. Pressing both buttons on phone was definitely easier - the on the first phone that locked up, I used the "Restore iPhone..." button in iTunes, and although that worked successfully it of course required 3 hours of re-downloading everything into the phone.
Same here. My iPhone 4S has been stuck around 65% as well for at least an hour. I'll try powering it off as suggested and see what happens. Never had this happen before. Thanks for finding an answer.
I tried to update to 7.1.2 yesterday and it hung up at 98%. I started it at like 8PM last night and by this morning it still was showing the Apple symbol and the thin status bar at 98%. I did what everyone else is doing...pressing the On and Lock bottons at the same for about 5-10 seconds and the phone turns off and restarts and shows version as 7.1.2. Scared the **** out of me as I have not backed up to iTunes for a long time.
Same thing happened to me. iPhone 5, hung around 20%. Thankfully this trick fixed it. Glad I found this thread!
come on Apple, get your act together.
Thanks! My iPhone 5S kept saying I was no longer connected to the Internet when I tried to install 7.1.2, when I was. Did the hard reset by pushing down both buttons until the phone restarted and all is well. Does Apple test these things before they release them?
Same here. I have an iPhone 4S and started the update last night. When I woke up the ipdate was stuck at 75%. I was panicked.
Thank you for the solution.
Please Apple, it is not the first time an update has glitches, QA is important!
I have 5s. The update stopped at 30% and didn't want to go further than that. Luckily I found this topic and now it works perfectly. Thank you so much 🙂
Same here. iPhone 5 installation hung at about 90% for 40 minutes before I forced it to reboot with Home/Power. It says it's up-to-date, but I no longer trust it's in a good state.
Just had to do the same - iPhone4s. Apple should better test their patches....
I am hung after trying the same update. Mine, however, just shows a black screen with Itunes logo in center and an image of a USB connection with an arrow towards the Itunes logo. After doing the lock and homepage button thing, the phone still romes up with this screen and nothing else available.
Plug it into iTunes and see what happens. Also, try just pressing and holding the on/off button and see what happens.
PAulytheJoe,
the the symbol indicates you need to connect your iphone to your computer where you have your itunes backups for the phone. You may need to restore. Please review this -
Thanks for the excellent help! I did leave it overnight with cable attached to my itunes account. If I had seen the rest of your advice, (the referenced webpage), I would have tried that but instead went to my local Apple store. They apologized for my "hang up" but when they tried it on their device, the device restored properly and I was on my way. I wonder sometimes if my iphone just likes to mess with me sometimes to prove that I'm still not as smart as any of this younger generation.
oh...my power bottom stop working since march 2014, and now i can't force the iPhone to restart. hope it can be alright after all battery is used and put to recovery mode when charging......
