Iphone update iOS 7.1.2

I did an update on my phone to the new iOS 7.1.2 and now I don't have sound on speaker but works with headphone or just regular. I think it is not a hardware issue but software.. Apple please help!! Are other people experiencing same issue?

can I reverse the update?

To turn off programs, double-tap button at bottom of phone. You should see programs/screens shrink (get small). Then swipe each program up to top of screen - it should disappear. It's good to do this 1 or 2 times each week (in my opinion) - better not to have too many programs running in background at once. I try to have only 5-7 programs running at a time. I hope this helps!

Had the same problem since updating an iPhone 4s to 7.1.2. Went to the Genius Bar and told that it's a hardware issue that will require a replacement phone. Found this video (Search on YouTube: How To Fix IPhone 4/4s sound problem IOS 6 - IOS 7.1.x) of some guy using a utility blade to press down on the board inside the iPhone dock to regain audio and button control. I thought that it was crazy, but figured that I would give it a shot. I started playing audio to confirm that I had no sound or volume control (either on the screen or via the buttons). I then took a flathead screwdriver, stuck it on the screen side of the board inside the dock port, and pressed softly towards the back of the phone once. The speaker started working immediately. On-screen and button audio control also worked.

I'm betting that the problem will crop up after charging the phone at some frequency, but I'll just hope that this fix will continue to work without damaging the dock port.

OK, so I had this problem too... Note - had!

Did my due diligence and got ahead of the Apple Support guy - basically tried everything I found on the internet so far and got nothing...

Talked with Apple Support, and he requested making sure the silent switch was working properly. Swapped it a couple of times and it went from ringer to silent and back again just like it should. I figured I'd stay ahead of him and sent a text from my wife's phone to mine - and got the custom ringtone!!! First time I heard it in weeks (well, except the times I tried resetting it!!!) I was extremely surprised! While the suggestion was that something was "stuck" in the switch, I'm personally going with a software glitch was cleared up by using the switch - but that's just my take...

So, not saying this will fix your problem - but if you are having problems with sounds after iOS 7 upgrades it's possibly worth a shot - certainly can't hurt! I certainly hope it fixes everyones problem!!!

iOS BUG FIX/REPAIR:

I had the same problem with my iphone 4s. After updating I would get ringtones from my speaker but could not play any music. If I opened the sound recorder I could play sound yet other apps had nothing. I tried cleaning the charging port and headphone jack; however, I knew those were not the problem because I kept my phone very clean. I was certain the glitch was somewhere within the update. After doing much reading about the issue, I noticed many people had luck pluging/unplugging their idevice into a “dock” (which reads/plays audio from the unit). I personally never use my charging port to play audio; I’ve always used the headphone jack. I figured I’d try it anyways. I went to my local car audio store with my iphone and cable and pluged it into a display Kenwood car radio through the USB port. I opened my itunes and played a song. After I heard the music come through the store’s display speakers, I unplugged my phone and hit the itunes “play” button. My sound was restored and my volume buttons once again controlled the volume instead of displaying only the “volume square”. This completely solved the mystery and the problem.

** Note: Prior to going to the store, I did try pluging an unplugging into the standard charger well over 50 times within the two weeks of my sound not working and there was no change **

I’m thinking the people who often use their charging port to connect through data and play audio are the folks who were successful at restoring their idevice’s audio. I also believe many may have misunderstood or misinterpreted their problem as being “hardware related” or “bottom-port” related because it worked for them. There is probably many people who potentially need to clean their bottom port or headphone jack, but this problem is completely different from the iOS update problem. For whatever reason, after updating iOS, some devices may need to see a data/audio device via charging port to rectify the problem of the sound not working.

I hope this helps!!

UPDATE: I am able to duplicate the problem so I know FOR A FACT it is an iOS programming issue.

After unplugging the iOS unit from an iphone or ipad capable device via USB/charging/data port cable (I used a Kenwood radio with USB) and letting the iphone sit for 75 seconds or longer, the problem returns. After the phone goes “to sleep” 75 seconds or longer, with no cables or cords plugged into the device, without touching the screen to keep it from locking or without touching any buttons, the problem again presents itself. The issue will only go away if I use an iOS readable device to read it. It will not go away just by plugging the device into the charging plug. Therefore; It must be a software issue. So my fix is ONLY a temporary fix that disappears as soon as the phone in inactive for more than 75 seconds.

Same issues here... Since updated to iOS 7.1.2 (iPhone 4) I've experienced problems with music out via headphones and speakers dock. I try inserting and re-inserting my headphones several times. I also tried cleaning out the headphone jack in case of dust, but it didn't work. Same with the docket connector. It's like the headphones are disconnected and the music stops and I have to unplug the headphones and plug them again... With the dock, I have to disconnect the iPhone and connect it again. Sometimes doesn't work at all and I have to re start the iPhone and then it works again for a while. I've seen that other people are experiencing the similar problems. I went to an Apple Store, but they said I should get a new phone or fix it because it was an old phone. They said I could try resetting it which I did, but I only used my whole internet quote and the problems persisted. Very disappointing. There is nothing wrong with the hardware. The issue is the iOS 7.1.2.
