Safari won't load Facebook

All of a sudden Safari won't load Facebook. All other pages load just fine, but not Facebook. Facebook loads fine on FireFox though.

I tried everything suggested here. I deleted all my safari data. I deleted the cache.db file. My OS is version 10.9.5. I've removed all extensions from safari. Facebook will load neither from chrome nor firefox.

Now, with my other older laptop I can load facebook just fine. I can log into facebook from the iphone app and others on this router can log into facebook fine from their macbooks.

Any other ideas? It doesn't seem to be a browser problem. The only clue I had from other searches on the web was a reference to IPv6 and how facebook only uses it instead of IPv4. I'm not sure what that means but it could be clue as to what's going on.

Also, I use iCare but it doesn't run on a consistent basis.

What else can I try?

Thanks.

Found a solution:

The thing that did the trick was the unblocking, or in other words removing, the facebook from the host file by following these instructions:

http://www.wikihow.com/Block-and-Unblock-Internet-Sites-(On-a-Mac)

Of course, instead of adding a site to block, I made the line with facebook a comment by adding a # (this is step 13). Make sure you log out of sudo mode by typing "exit".

After months of trying to load facebook on my macbook I can finally use it with no problem.
