Movies won't play in HD after reformat (win 7 iTunes)

So I have been purchasing all of my movies lately through iTunes. I have had no issue watching these on my win 7 64 bit machine with Ben-Q and Dell 24" dual monitor set up.

I watched Anchorman 2 in full HD, The Hobbit (Desolation of Smaug), etc. No issues.

I then reformatted and begain getting the following message:

"This movie cannot be played in HD.

To play this movie in HD you must have a computer with a built in display or have it connected to a display that supports HDCP"

Then I'm referred to this: iTunes for Windows: Unable to view or play HD video content that requires HDCP which is not helpful in the least as it doesn't apply to me. All of my hardware is HDCP compatible.

Mind you HD worked fine 12 hours ago before the reformat.

I have:

  • Reset my computer authorizations on iTunes.
  • Re-authorized my PC
  • updated my video drivers to the latest version off the manufacturer webpage

Bottom line is I paid money for HD, I wand to watch in HD. I'm certain there must be some solution to this.

Does it say 8 GB in the properties? Its possible you have bad memory or a stick failure, sometimes the properties will show less memory. Delete the DRM folder itself, not just the contents. Try restarting afterwords. I tried on my work computer the other day and updated without problems or having to delete the DRM. You must use Internet Explorer and accept all popups and agreements.

Tried restarting, it started to delete the folder then it popped up again that it was open in another program. I did delete the entire folder before, the first time you pointed me in that direction. However, I wanted to follow directions exactly, so I restored the folder and deleted whats inside.

Since then I can't redelete it.

I cleared the temp file thinking that would help with the hang up. Not yet.

Going to try an upgrade again....

Yea, teamviewer might be a good idea, appreciate it. At this point I don't even care anymore, I just don't want to give up. The security update went through (again) but no change, still can't play.

I have this odd feeling if I unplug replug the connection to the monitor it would effect it similar to apple TV. But I'm too lazy to try
