Issue with iMac USB drive

Hi there.

Whenever I use the USB drive on my iMac, I find the data is corrupted. How can I fix this?

The system specs are as follows:

*Mac OS X [10.7.5]

*Processor: 28 GHz Intel Core i7

*Built-in USB

*Host Controller driver: AppleUSBEHCI

I would appreciate any useful advice on what to do to resolve this.

Thank you!

Lauren

The reason why I suspect the USB port is because this has happened on multiple USB drives. The one constant is the USB port on the iMac. The USB drives that have had issues worked fine on other Macs and then when plugged into this iMac, all of a sudden there is a problem with the files getting corrupted and unusable. Maybe highly unlikely but not impossible that there could be an issue.
