my ipod touch 5th gen battery life drains fast

Well, I've looked through loads of answered questions related to mine, all having a similar problem, however none have worked. Lately I've been noticing my ipod touch 5th gen battery running slow pretty fast. I kind of tested it today, with a couple hour charge - lead to roughly a 3 hour battery life. I've heard that the battery life should last at least 6 hours, am I correct? So I don't understand what the problem is here, and how to fix it.

I got my ipod touch in January roughly thinking. 32GB. Brightness it below the half way point. I do not send nor receive emails. I switch off the apps regularly. So yeh.

Any help would be amazing 🙂

The simple answer is: The more you charge it, the less you get to use it.

If you charge your iPod very frequently, that severely reduces the battery life of the device. There is no solution to that, except if you're willing to go to the Genius Bar and get the battery replaced, which might be costly.

I too am discouraged by the 2 hours of battery life and looking for solutions. Is Apple the only placed licensed to install new batteries. Are there some batter batteries installable by other by other services?

I have the model with lower storage (16 or 32GB?). Would model life be the greater storage (32 or 64GB?) bring with it longer battery life?

I have large streaming apps from Amazon, Apple, and the iTunes app? Would eliminating 2 of these help? (I admit that I simply have to run my iPod bright to enjoy it.)

So far, the the best solution I've found is a portable charger--preferably 5000 mAH or more for 2 complete charges.

The would be very very little increase in battery life with a lower capacity iPod.

Streaming drains the battery a lot. However, if yo are not using the app deleting the app will do nothing regarding battery life.

Manth third-party places will replace the battery. Doing so voids any warranty yo have on the iPod.

Your battery needs to be replaced. I bought one used on ebay and noticed that it charged VERY quickly and that made me very suspicious about the battery being any good. I lived with it for a few months and finally did a $20 battery repair service from another ebay seller and the battery is about 4X better than it was. I could get maybe 2.5 hrs of usage out of it now I'm at 5.5 hrs usage at 36% battery life left so there is your answer.

I had this problem too. I have an IPod Touch 5th generation for less than one hour and then it shows 20% battery life. When I charge my iPod Touch, it had some battery power left. I think it looks like that I might need to change the battery on my IPod Touch. I chat with an Apple Technician and the person said I have to go to an Apple Store to have my battery checked.
