Hi,
Adobe DNG converter does not accept to convert my new photos from the D810.
I am using DNG Version 6.2.0.28 on my iMac and get the following message after selecting the folder with my images to convert (all are labeled FNL_xxx.NEF and are over 75MB each).
I'll be very grateful to receive any comment on what I might be doing wrong?
Adobe LR trial downloading now since APPLE is lamentably letting us down...
Thank you for any help.
Oups... Got it. It seems that my DNG version is obsolete and I am now downloading Version 8.6 that should convert my D810 files.
Sorry I did not think of checking with google before.
You might want to forget DNG or even the new Adobe Camera RAW. It is simply rubbish. The colors are terrible and the detail is pitiful. Capture One doesn't support the D810 yet. If you want accurate RAW conversion, use Nikon's Capture NX-D.
Thank you Don,
Going to try Capture NX-D as indeed I am very disappointed after converting my photos with DNG and looking at them in Aperture. Awful!
Gotta tell you - Apple's blown it for me by not getting the RAW support for the D810 out fast enough. I got my D810 the week it came out and, even though I'm also and Aperture fan, went with the first party to offer support which was Adobe. So I bought LR5 standalone, and gotta say it's superior to Aperture with handling RAW, especially with spot removal as I've had several issues with keeping my sensor clean (anyone else had this problem?)
So I think what I'm going to do is to import all my photos into LR whether jpg or raw, do my editing there, then export out to iPhoto to take advantage of Yosemite's new photo sharing thing this fall. A two step process that will take up more drive space for sure, but with better results IMO.
I guess the update for RAW L is out for nikon D810, but still not reading the RAW S files. Is an update for that on its way? And when?
Apple never announces the date of new RAW support releases in advance, so we can only speculate. The D810 is not the only camera, where the RAW-S format is not supported. The same goes for the Nikon D4S.So it is systematic.
OS X Yosemite: Supported digital camera RAW formats - Apple Support
Quite simply the best RAW converter for NEF files is Nikon Capture NX-D. Adobe Camera RAW is utter rubbish and the Apple Camera RAW while better, in my opinion, is simply not up to the Nikon software.
