Bogus phonetic "false false" added to contacts

Starting on 7/29/14, bogus phonetic first & last names of "false false" are now added to every contact I modify, and these fields cannot be modified or deleted. This causes all modified contacts to appear alphabetically under "F" in the contact list.

Exact same problem here On my iPhone 5S but my iPad. mini is ok. Spent hours on the phone with Apple support but could not fix it. Tried backing up, uninstall and reinstalling Yahoo, putting all contacts on the Cloud (lost about half that way), total reset, currently out of options to try. I hope someone figures this out soon!

I had the same problem (iphone 5). It put a bunch of my contacts under "F" and "false false" next to these names. I went to the apple store last night. They had me change "sync contacts with icloud" instead of yahoo. I thought that would help-but it didn't. I edited some of the contacts last night before I went to bed. I erased the "false false", and then the contacts went back to their correct letter in contacts. This morning when I got up, they were all back in F. Tried re-entering them several times, while I was on icloud.com on my PC, but they kept going back to "F". Starting to get very ****** off, so I just deleted my Yahoo mail account from my iphone. Fixed!!!

I have had contacts erased from my iphone on several occasions, so it is getting very aggravating for me. When it comes time for a new phone, this contact issue may be a dealer-breaker, for me, for getting a new iphone. After all, the main use for my iphone for me, is to call people. If I keep losing their phone numbers, it's not worth it for me.

Thanks, that totally worked for me - all back to normal now.

I did have to re-enter just a few of my contacts that were deleted when I turned "Contacts" off under the Sky/ Yahoo email account through my iPhone Settings - Mail, Contacts. Calendars.

Those contacts must have been originally created via my Yahoo (Sky) email, but fortunately not too many for me. If you have a ,ot of contacts that might be deleted doing this then I'm sure there must be an easy way to transfer them so that they're not lost when they're turned off. Perhaps someone here can advise how to do that?

Easy resolution for me(Verizon Tech Coach):

go to yahoo.com>contacts>actions>export>export contacts as yahoo csv file. save to desktop or on computer.

go to alternate email account(gmail, outlook, etc) import csv file

turn off yahoo contacts sync under settings>mail contacts calendars>yahoo

turn on sync for the account you imported that csv file to.

May be easiest to create an all new account just for your yahoo contacts.

Hope this helps!

1) try going into settings>mail, contacts, and calendars> select your yahoo account> turn off contacts

-this will remove all the contacts that say false

2) open up your yahoo mail account from a computer.

- go into the contact section and edit your contacts so that they display the correct first and last name

3) when you are finished doing that, enable contacts back on the phone under the yahoo email settings.

I got my IPhone 5s Sat. Night. False and false false started appearing on my old phone on July 29. I have spoken to 4 AT & T technicians who all said they had not heard of it. I had them google it. Then I spoke to 2 Apple technicians and supervisors. They said it is Yahoo problem. I emailed Yahoo since they won't answer phone and now have a case number, but every time I try replying in email, it says it is nor a valid email address. They (Yahoo) did say they are trying to fix the problem.
