All images missing from thread 6448092

All images (four photographs, three screenshots) are missing from the following topic:

Storage problems, Core Storage, Disk Utility, checksums, fsck_cs and cksum mismatches

Please, is the problem transient?

We really have no way of knowing. The same thing happened to me when I added screenshots to a reply only to have the screenshots show up later. On the link you provided I can see the last 3 screenshots using my iPad.

Thanks, would you mind setting aside those three? If normal service does not resume, I might ask for them.

The photographs of HDAT2, showing problems with the sshd, are irreplaceable so if anyone has a cached copy (I already tried Google etc.) that'll be nice. But if they're lost forever, I'll not cry.

(I did not keep a web archive of the topic in its proper state. My bad.)

Try to "View Image" on "IMG_0893" in TenFourFox v31, you get

Wikipedia has an article on:

(computing) A Javaprogram, running on a Internetserver, that generates web contentdynamically in response to requests from clients.

A veritable plethora of possibilities from JiveWare to simple file corruption.

… A veritable plethora of possibilities …

Yeah. For a while I wondered whether removal was intentional, maybe by a moderator. In the three screenshots –

– the red, yellow and green stoplights suggest pre-release Yosemite, which I don't expect to be discussed in ASC. However those window buttons were entirely incidental to the storage focus of the topic. (Side note: that style of button is at least nine years old.)

Of the four photographs –

– none involved Apple software. The MacBook Pro was booted without OS X (HDAT2 runs in DOS); there would be no reason for a moderator to remove them.

Thanks, bobseufert.

Still no trace of them here – missing from the original topic and from your two recent posts. I guess that the images will be returning to a server near me (East Sussex, UK) within the next day or so.

Side note, off-topic – and I don't expect the new images below to be visible to everyone – the subject line of this topic seems to be gaining Re: words without explanation. There should be no such prefix. I wonder whether this post from me (the opening poster) will cause the opening post to apparently gain a third Re: without me editing that post …

My screenshots didn't arrive ? If not I'll hold on to them and try another time. About the Re's. If you go from the community to your question there's no re. The res start appearing when you go from mail to discussion. i don't remember the multiple res but when I'm replying I don't start at the beginning of the post so I wouldn't have noticed.

Thanks. There's now a separate topic for the Re: and Re: Re: problems:

Unexpected transient 'Re: ' prefixes at the head (but not in the title) of a topic

bob & graham

bob: just to be crystal:

> I < see your shots BUT do not see the originals in the referenced thread NOR here

VERY strange... Ya'll try this...

left click on bob's first screenshot in his RE RE RE RE post above. Opens full screen in the nifty image viewer, right?

Now, scroll jump-up a couple times and left click the last rescued image that bob posted... acts like it's gonna display full screen (spinning gear) ... then nuthin!

Both images are captured in exactly the same way (?same size - right bob?) on the same device and inserted the same way (??)

I am starting to think that there is something funky in the data of the DOS screenshots... looks as if they were originally captured by a phone(?)

Random tests

⌃ Control + 'Copy Image' > Paste of bob's last rescued image --- THIS IS scalable in the compose pane - but I did not scale it - plain PASTE

this is NOT what it looked like in the "Simple" edit/compose pane

User uploaded file

this is mainly to see what happens on committing the reply to the thread as it just looks like clickable URLs in the compose pane

⌃ + 'Copy Image Location' > Paste of bob's last rescued image

https://discussions.apple.com/content/attachment/467555040

⌃ + 'Copy LINK Location' > Paste of bob's last rescued image

curioser and curioser (image scaled ±50% after insert - about the size of a CD cover - click it for full size? = another test)

(BTW bob - what's correct usage of "mahalo" - watched Battleship movie on TV last night and the Rhianna character said it right before she blew the alien's head off with a turret deck 6" gun - too many wiktionary variations, none of which are anywhere near ' take THAT mutha..... ' )

Aug 31, 2014 12:04 PM in response to ChitlinsCC

Aloha CCC. This is bordering on insanity. Just before going to sleep Graham's first 4 photos were missing but I could still see my screenshots of those photos. Now those screenshots are missing from this thread. At this point nothing should surprise me, it's like Jive giveth and Jive taketh away.

Mahalo means thank you. I don't think the alien was feeling very thankful and probably forgot to say your welcome. 😁
