IPod classic gone now

What are those of us who just want a high capacity mp3 players supposed to do now that the iPod Classic is gone? Apple has pretty much alienated those of us who just want a high capacity mp3 player.

Let's face it.

The real reason for iPod Classic's discontinuance is because it actually makes Apple's iOS (which they treasure so ***** much) pathetic as a music device.
(I put the *s by the way)
First of course is storage. 160 GB is large enough to house months worth of straight music.

Second. in a speed-test to get to the song you want in a large library of songs, the wheel and click method beats the finger on screen approach...

Third. iPod Classic OS was simple, to the letter, and did exactly what it was designed to do... play music... as in actually did the thing it was best at. (sure it had other knick knacks, but on a whole, when you could just dock the ipod inside your work-station playing the device for hours on end and get through your day carefree... this really does beat any of its competitors.

Okay fine. It doesn't have a touch screen... wifi... play games..(I mean beyond Solitaire..) It doesn't take phone calls... let's see... Unless we remember the iPod Nanos (the long skinny ones) it doesn't have a camera.... nor a built in Speaker... And it runs on a Standard Disc HHD as opposed to a SSD.

Let's help give you a few suggestions for the "New and Improved" iPod Classic X:

Thinner and Lighter

Has an SSD 128 or 256 GB

Uses the new Lightning Cable

Adds the support of Wireless Connectivity (Bluetooth)

Updated OS iPod Classic Style

Multiple controls: Wheel/Click or Touch

Built in Speaker

7.1 Surround Sound Support

Anticipated Price: 250 (128GB) or 350 (256GB)

Well, despite various phone calls and visits to Apple store, there is still no solution forthcoming....shame on you Apple, thanks for creating the ideal music solution for me, then taking it away now that I am fully set up in home & car....what am I supposed to do now then?! Would love to hear the official Apple comment on this, to me (and the many others) 'valued' customers.....really, what is the solution to people who want the iPod for music only.....er, oh yes, its the Ipod Classic!

TThey can't hear you because they're listening to the new U2 album. What, don't you like it? Streaming w/ads for free - aka radio - is where the kiddies are at. Of course if AAPL goes under in 10 years all the music you " purchased " goes up in smoke, er , clouds, but the kiddies are too short sigated and think that AAPL always existed and always will; they'll never go out of business. 😮

Conversation in actual Apple Store today - Q? - So, can you advise me what device to buy for 160G of music now that the classic is gone - A. Well sir, its all about the iPod now, have you tried Argos, John Lewis, HMV, Game etc...er excuse me!!! So, let me see, I now have to buy a phone that I don't need, for £699 that is still not big enough to hold all my music!!!! Oh yes Apple, great deal - I will have 2 please!!!! Arrrrgggggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Am extremely annoyed that Apple would discontinue the iPod Classic without offering an alternative device that can be plugged into cars, or ghetto blasters, or stereo's away from home to make music portable. My iTunes library will become useless once my 160 Gb classic dies, because I will have no device that will hold my 145 Gb library. Hopefully some competitor will make a high capacity music device that can play music files. I can't believe I wasted years developing an iTunes library and will soon have no use for it.

Pretty well. The fiio supports 2 cards - I'm guessing doubleTwist would not work with that configuration. Dapper is designed for the two card situation , but seems to only work with the FiiO.

another player is supposed to be out this month. The Pono (ponomusic.com). I'm hoping they will have some sort of syncing solution but they don't seem to be talking much about software - only the hardware - which could be a big mistake. I think mainstream acceptance will depend on having good software.

-.- _(For now I will explore my options and resort to them when my current iPod model stops working.)

o.O _(But has anyone noticed, much like on most forum type boards there would be an actual person from Apple that would chime into the conversation and offer their words/expertise to even give an idea of what's in the wood-work? I have been on many company forums before where topics related to a product or service was changed/discontinued where even if the Moderator didn't know what was being planned, there'd at least be some kind of reassurance that once something was leaked by way of this subject there would be at least a "be patient until the next Keynote Confrence...")

-.0 _(The only thing I can think is... we're not really important to them anymore...)

The next time I see Tim, I will insist that he make you; "Executive Vice President in charge of Strategic Long-range Planning".

You can then oversee the creation of a proper iPod.

Because only you can bring balance to the Apple force. Bringing peace to those who love having all there songs with them in one device and those who are happy duct-taping 3 iPod touches together.

Leave feedback here. I know for a fact that it gets read.
