IPod classic gone now

What are those of us who just want a high capacity mp3 players supposed to do now that the iPod Classic is gone? Apple has pretty much alienated those of us who just want a high capacity mp3 player.

They should've updated the classic from time to time. Every new idea gets celebrated on the iPad. It would not hurt Apple to up the capacity a bit, put a better display in and make it a bit thinner. I don't want a classic with 600h music Playback, retina display 802.11ac and so on. Just an update were everything is a bit better than before but nothings really new and they would keep the idea of the real ipod from 2001. Job's Idea.

This is very sad indeed. I actually just hit my limit on my iPod Classic as I have a music library that is currently sitting at 160.21 GBs. I had all my files converted to 256 kbs just to fit it all on my iPod Classic. I personally have wanted an even bigger iPod Classic, but have watched as Apple has continued to not support the player for years. I understand thats literally almost 60 days straight worth of music, but I actually love having my entire music library to carry around with me. I have to figure something out I guess for the future. Even with the capacity the new iPhone 6 has its not enough room for me. My area still struggles with 3G support, not even talking about 4G LTE. I can't ever get any of the songs to play clear from the cloud without it having to buffer or something on my iPhone. This cloud idea sounds good on paper, but the reality is that they don't have anywhere near all the music on the cloud and a lot of areas still have horrible service, so I'm not into the iCloud.

I have been working on my iTunes library for a few years now, since it got screwed up when I changed computers. I have about 145 Gb of music in wav or AAC format. Unfortunately most of it is burned by iTunes from CD, except for a smaller percentage of music that I have purchased from iTunes store. Most of my library is therefore backed up on the original CDs. I use my 160 Gb iPod classic in my car or at the cottage or wherever I go. I have been working on my library over the last number of months by burning a CD of one of my favorite groups, then looking at other albums from the same group at the iTunes store. Unfortunately I started purchasing a number of albums from iTunes to round out my collection, but once my iPod dies my iTunes library will only be useable at home. Also unfortunately I bought some Apple stock when their price was down. They recovered and their price went up, but now I fear it will drop drastically due to poor decisions and lack of vision and reduced music sales on iTunes. I guess I am done with purchases at the iTunes store, until they offer an improved alternative to the iPod classic. I will look elsewhere for high capacity media devices and for sources of music.

😮 Well!

"Just hit the limit." 😕

Magnificent job in managing to get 160.21GB of music onto a 160GB iPod that has a storage capacity of approximately 148GBs.

  1. Transfer the songs to your iPod at a lower rate than 256Kbps.
  2. Convert some songs to 128Kbps (for example, the ones you like least).
  3. Use Smart Playlists to create self controlling playlists and Sync by Playlists to your iPod. For example, remove songs that you have just played or got fed up with, and don't put them back onto the iPod until you want them again.

1. Do you have any reading comprehension skills? Some of the files are 320 Kbps and take up less space once converted to 256 kbps.

2. Not all files that I have can be converted to 128 Kbps, and I've already previously converted some only to find out they sounded horrible and reduced the quality to an unacceptable level. I was already making a sacrifice in my eyes at 256 Kbps.

3. What does any of this matter anymore when Apple isn't going to support the device?

4. With the tone you've taken I'd rather you just leave me alone. I'm glad you seem to support Apples decision, but I really don't want any of your attempts at advice. If anything you are further proving to me why I'm getting tired of Apple.
