IPod classic gone now

What are those of us who just want a high capacity mp3 players supposed to do now that the iPod Classic is gone? Apple has pretty much alienated those of us who just want a high capacity mp3 player.

The touch and the iphone don't meet the needs of many music lovers.

Most everyone in this quadrant of the galaxy agrees with you. Unfortunately, the goal is to have less capacity not more. The strategic strategy is to store your music in the cloud and download your music as needed.

When driving, I can perform many simple tasks using the click wheel on my iPod Classic without ever looking at it. Using a touchscreen will constitute distracted driving on the part of the young. I have a 2015 Toyota Sequoia that links to my iPhone and can search for music based on voice commands.

It is a massive distraction and hassle trying to get the playlist or song you want using voice commands. Yes, I have gone through the voice training with my vehicle. I'm a native English speaker, born in the Midwest, with no perceivable accent.

Please send nicely worded feedback to Apple using the links below. I can tell you for a fact, they get read.

Mr Fiend : - 'and yet I can find them in Argos, Currys, my local Tesco and Sainsbury's.'

If this is true then you have done well, as between Apple & myself & many other customers who need them, nobody can find any on sale - id suggest 1 of the following courses of action / views :

1 - Buy them all and double your money on ebay,

2 - Buy at least 1, email me your details and help out a stranded iPod Classic user (i.e. me) - I will even pay you a small premium for your trouble

3 - (most likely) - I think you are wrong, as they are completely sold out in every on line & physical retail outlet that I & Apple have checked on over the last few weeks

When you have been around for a while you collect a large collection of music. And when you are an audiophile, MP3s just don't cut it, so you need lots of memory to store WAV, DSD, etc. There is a large cummunity that exists, but perhaps is too small for Apple to see that love the Ipod classic.

The A&K 240 is a great device but costs $2,400.00, so until then I'm staying with Classic.

See below for modding your classic.

PS Mr Fiend, I checked with the store in question and this wasn't actually on sale on that date

It was. Be very careful about suggesting otherwise - and in particular...

not sure how you obtained that photo in that case....

...as you may inadvertently break the Terms of Use of this forum - and offend me. (Check my photo of the Classic in the above post, in particular, the highlighted "date-taken" information.)

I have been to Sainsbury's in Cobham this evening (6.30p.m.) and today there is a sticker on the Classic saying "temporarily out of stock", which means they probably won't get any more. Well of course there is, because on the 25th of October I told the whole world where they could buy an iPod Classic. If you waited until the 10th November (the date of your reply to me), or anywhere beyond the end of the following day (the 26th, which would have been a Sunday), don't you think that perhaps everyone else in this thread who has been whinging about the lack of availability, plus everyone else who may have read this thread, and then told their friends as well - has nipped down to Cobham, fought their way through all those Chelsea footballers, and bought what remaining stock that Sainsbury's had? After all, they were dirt cheap!

And don't forget that on the 20th October, I mentioned that Tesco, Currys and Argos all claimed to have stock at that time. If they are all out of stock now, that begs the question "how good was my advice?", to which the logical answer is "probably spot on, but definitely not wrong."

P.S. It wasn't you in the green hat, who I nearly ran my trolley into, in Sainsbury's this evening, was it? If so, I apologise for nearly knocking you off your feet with my trolley. It must have had a dodgy wheel.

FYI i rang them as soon as I saw your post I only just got around to posting a reply, didnt actually go there - it is an amazing coincidence thatthe only person onhere who doesnt want a an iPod classic managed to find so many fo sale!!!! Even Apple themselves couldn't find me one despite a lengthy search following several phone calls to a very helpful lady at Apple - you are truly an amazing person (at photo shop I mean)
