iPhone 6 + Camera Connection Kit Works! (Apple Genius)

A Genius at the Apple Store today (Oakridge, Vancouver) told me the Camera Connection Kit (SD Reader) would work with the iPhone 6 plus!

I've just searched thru every iPhone 6 plus news release out there and I can't find any confirmation of this - does anyone know if this is true? Because I'm going to order one Friday if this is true!

I'm finding all this discussion ambiguous because of terminology: there's the SD to 30 pin reader in the Camera Connection Kit, and there's the SD to lightning (with a short cable) reader that i think was just released, or at least just "activated" for iPhone by the new iOS update. I read the comments and don't know which parts people are referring too because they're not specific.

From the apple website:

"With the Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader, it’s easy to download photos and videos from your digital camera to your iPad or iPhone so you can view them on the gorgeous Retina display and share them with family and friends.

"After you insert the SD card into the reader, your iPad or iPhone automatically opens the Photos app, which organizes your photos into Moments, Collections, and Years..."

(and, with that clarified, my earlier question is whether this same function can be achieved with the "iPod camera connection kit"'s USB to 30 pin reader, connected to the phone via apple's 30 pin to lightning adapter.
