A problem to update whatsapp application in iphone & desktop itunes

hi

three years ago this application (whatsapp) was not free. I bought this app. but now it is available for free.

in this duration i updated it several times but now when i order to updated it from version 2.11.8 to version 2.11.9 i have a message repeatedly that says :

"this item is free in the store ,this item will be added to your purchases and will be available even if your family sharing status changes"

and when i press "Download" button this message appears continuously.

i am confused to solve this problem.

i have iPhone 5S.

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1.2

HEY I FOUND THE ANSWER!!!!

Open iTunes > go to store > under store click View Account > Once here look under iTunes in the cloud and next to hidden purchases click manage > then UNHIDE any apps you are trying to download. Then your apps will work. This is for apps you've already downloaded before that you want access to again. I am not 100% sure if this will solve the problem for downloading apps for the first time.

Good Luck 🙂

I have had similar issues in the past, before apple announced the family sharing feature. The only times I had this issue was when an app developer released an update of an app, only to remove the update. Rather than the family sharing message it just had a message saying that the app is no longer available. When at the home screen you would see the spinning wheel nonstop next to the wifi strength indicator until the app was updated or removed.

Hey guys,

I'm from Argentina and I'm having the same problem with my store, I tried uninstalling the app but now I can't get to download it again. I called the international support and the only thing they told me was that it was a Whatsapp problem, so I emailed them, but got no response. I hope this problem gets solved tomorrow with the new iOS 8.

AirJohnn its kinda disappointing to see that this is also an issue in the GM build. Like I said before I have had this same exact problem other times in the past, but the message I am presented with is different. In the past I have had a strong suspicion that this occurs when a new version of the app is placed on the app store and then switched back to the previous version by the app developer. I'm guessing that when the app developer removes the update, the app store removes the updated version of the app but not the listing for the new version. Any chance you have contacted Whatsapp to see if they pulled an update from the app store recently?
