A problem to update whatsapp application in iphone & desktop itunes

hi

three years ago this application (whatsapp) was not free. I bought this app. but now it is available for free.

in this duration i updated it several times but now when i order to updated it from version 2.11.8 to version 2.11.9 i have a message repeatedly that says :

"this item is free in the store ,this item will be added to your purchases and will be available even if your family sharing status changes"

and when i press "Download" button this message appears continuously.

i am confused to solve this problem.

i have iPhone 5S.

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1.2

Thanks that does work indeed, at least got it installed again and working. But when there's an update you would have to switch back to that other account in order to have it in your "purchases" list or you'll have the same issue. Also you cannot restore chats from iCloud (or maybe thats because my backup was taken at ios7 and running 8 now)

I am from the Philippines and I also have the same problem. I encountered the issue last when I tried to update whatsapp. Instead, it kept on displaying the message "this item is free in the store ,this item will be added to your purchases and will be available even if your family sharing status changes." So I thought of removing the app from my phone hoping re-installing it would solve it. Unfortunately, this made it worse as I no longer see whatsapp as software that I purchased e.g. it displays FREE instead of UPDATE button. What I decided to do today was to use iTunes (i've got 11.4.0.18) on Windows and look into my iTunes if whatsapp was there. I was fortunate to find it there and I clicked install to sync it back with my phones copy. So, I was finally able to restore whatsapp back to the same version i had but not to the latest version which is 2.11.11. When I tried to update it on restored whatsapp, it still displays the same message "this item is free..." At least I have my whatsapp back. The only thing I have to do I think is to update to IOS 8 but since my phone is iPhone 4S, I'm delaying that decision.
