I'm glad you've been happy with their products. I too sold my iPhone 5, which had been cased and holstered when not in use. And while I didn't have a screen protector on it, my phone looked like it just came out of it's protective wrap on the first day. I've actually never gotten a scratch on any of my phones. Yes, I'm unusually careful with my phones, but given I've had my phone now 3 weeks and except the past two days where I did have a protector on (now removed), my phone is as I would expect.....unscratched. I would have kept the Zagg Glass on, IF it would have seated correctly on my phone. It didn't and it just bugged me too much.

I have been following this thread since I ordered my iPhone 6 weeks ago.

I received my phone yesterday and I have decided, based on this thread, to wait on spending anything over $30 for either a case and/or a screen protector. I plan to at least wait for lifeproof to be evaluated.

What I would like to know is what the 'standard' decision is regarding the following options?

1) Applecare $99 but only one year

2) Squaretrade $79.99 from Costco and 2 years coverage

3) Squaretrade $5 per month online (perhaps is planning to sell the phone in one year)

4) Carrier specific insurance $10 per month (not even considering this, but just putting it down to identify I know it exists).

Any other options/ideas???

Thanks guys, great conversation here!

FYI, I am currently going with the Unicorn Beetle Armorbox and it seems to have great fit/style but I feel like the quality will not withstand a 3-4+ foot drop.

i'm too sure what AppleCare provides overseas. Here in Australia this is the first time we have AppleCare + and I believe it does provide two years of accidental damage with the sevice fee of $99 per event. 2 events for the 2 years

I'll let you read and process the U.S. website link above with what it does and does not cover and what the costs would be with or without applecare

i bought the slim armor case It looks relatively sturdy. I am not invinced how much these 6 pluses cam be protected when hitting the ground on the corner of the phone - I hope it never gets tested with my phone and case......or yours

edit--- I just read your edit

Yes, these curved glass screens make me really nervous about drops.. more so than ever actually.

Thats the reason Im willing to by an accidental damage plan for the first time.

My question is the 5-5s screens could be replaced even with the fingerprint reader working for well under $100.

Doesnt a $100 screen replacement make a $100 +$79 per incident (plus tax) insurance plan kinda obsolete??

As I wrote, moshi is my favorite brand for screen protectors. Customer support says the upcoming version of iVisor will work with apple cases and I can not wait for it.

I like the cut out on the home button but it is a different feel than a naked phone. I am not saying it is worse but just different, I would not trade it for a cut out like iloome's. You will not feel the cut near phone speaker unless you use the phone like a cotton swab.

That's what I was thinking. Here in Australia applecare is $129 plus $99 per service. I wonder if apple always charge this though???? Is there some discretion with your history or with the genius looking at it maybe???

MInd you if you plan to drop it twice its not too bad a deal.

and with other insurance would the phone be fixed well enough or with inferior products. is there any high excess there too or is that just for replacing a stolen phone??

iI'm thinking I might go without a screen protector for the first time and cough up the $130 or $160 odd here if I break it and if I just have scratches appear so be it. Im really loving my new toy too much to not have a spot on protector get in the way of me and my new love. I don't mind the protector not going RIGHT to the edge but then there is the non specific cut outs or the protectors that over the camera that I have some mental issue overcoming at this stage of my relationship - and I'm someone who has just moved on from my 4s hence my relationship with this new fascination

I must say though i am still faithful to my iPad that I type this on. With its spigen glass protector and its stm case which has been true to me for some time

Squaretrade does reimburse for apple geniuse bar repair/replacement so theres that.

I do feel the same as you though, however, I am worried about scratches for the resale value of the phone if I decide to go with the 6s or future versions.

That is why I am going with a case with a built in screen protector that might not protect from drops (insurance) but does protect the wear and resale value.

I just feel if you get a screen protector thats decent, its $20+ right there, add a simple cheap case and your already at $40+ which would have just gotten a decent case with a built in screen protector.

To each his own I suppose. Im trying to protect this $750 investment without wasting money, a troublesome task.

I can not speak for the glass version because I used AG, my guess is that it will feel like the glass protector is on the glass itself. The feel was perfect with the anti glare version.

PS: I would like to see a picture of this back protectors on an iphone and maybe some feedbacks:

I Ordered 2 x Orzly glass protectors and they're both going back.

The package was neat, it come with everything you'd want, including an alcohol wipe. Fitting was a breeze, with zero bubbles as you'd expect from a tempered glass screen protector, but unfortunately it just doesn't fit properly. Theres no cutout for the front facing camera and the protector lifts all around the edges due to the beveled screen.

This product was undoubtably rushed and not well thought out.

The ideal screen protector is going to have to take both the beveled edges and cases in to account.

This is the same problem with the Zagg Glass. Just an FYI though. It's not necessary to have a cutout for the front facing camera. When I had the Zagg Glass on, it too didn't have a cutout for the lens, it just did for the speaker. But it didn't in any way negatively affect picture taking quality from the front lens.

I took my Zagg Glass back today and the guy who installed it, decided to get the manager and together, they tried three more applications, with the exact same result on all three. It simply won't seat all the way around. So they actually pulled all the Zagg Glass kits from their shelves and are sending them back to Zagg as there's clearly something wrong with them.

That said, the manager convinced me to try the new Zagg HDX film on my phone. I was pleased to learn Zagg no longer uses wet application films. I simply didn't like them. This goes on dry, just like the Zagg Glass, only it fits better and there are no not fitting issues on the edges. The one advantage to the film over the glass is it's not (according to Zagg) possible to scratch it and it offers 3X shatter resistance if I ever drop my phone.

It feels very smooth to my fingers, so I'm going to give this film a chance and see if I like it. So far, so good!

I Used the zagg glass protector on my 4s for about 3 months and that felt pretty solid.

however with the 6 and 6 plus it might be a different kettle of fish as per a comment on about page 8 of this thread.

MInd you the spigen nano tr for the 5 s did a remarkable job of saving my wife's screen when she closed the car door on her phone in which her phone bent - somewhat in a similar style and angle as this "bendgate" stuff out there

Well I give up on Zagg. It was installed nicely. Fit nicely and then last night I noticed it too was starting to unseat around the edges. I took it off and will just not have a screen protector on my iPhone 6. It doesn't have any scratches after over 2 weeks and I'm thinking I won't get any either.
