I've just put a Vikings Shield tempered glass screen protector (Siddons10 posted about this on page 4) on my iPhone 6 and I'm really pleased with it. It doesn't go right to the edges of the face of the phone but more than covers the actual screen and a fair amount of the surround. Cost me £4.99 on eBay with free postage (although think may now be £5.99) so a great price too. If a tempered screen protector does come out that completely covers 100% of the face I may get 1, but I'm quite happy with this one at the moment!!!

Thanks for the pictures but I don't see how that's a great fit. I see whites all around the screen protector; edges of your screen protector is not in contact with the phone. There will be dust and lint stuck between your screen protector and screen pretty soon and after a while, your screen protector will start peeling off. 0.33mm for a screen protector is a lil too thick too.

Hi guys,

As I read all you great posts I came to conclusion that none of these screen protectors glass or film cover the entire phone like it did with my iPhone 5. I hope someone comes out with screen protector either it be glass of film to cover the entire phone from edge to edge otherwise I think it looks stupid, that small pieces are left uncovered in all these pictures. Their is no reason why they can't make screen protector that cover entire screen.

Thanks,

Joe

It's going to be more difficult (and more expensive) for manufacturers to create protectors that cover the entire glass on the 6 or 6 Plus. Some folks have mentioned iloome.com, which hint at making a glass protector that covers the whole glass surface (but they say "full screen protection", not "full glass-surface protection", so who knows?). They're taking pre-orders, but this might be an expensive experiment. There are no pictures on their website, so it will cost you $25 to find out...

I agree with you on this Joe - screen protectors that only cover part of the glass are very visible and look very dorky.

I agreed with Lawrence. I have been using the iPhone since its inception and have been upgrading on every new iPhone coming out. I also used screen protector before but found out it did more harm than good. I throw my phone inside my purse with keys and everything but never had anything problem with scratched screen. Instead of a screen protector, what you need is a good case that has a raised bezel higher than your phone screen so your screen will never touch the ground when it drops. Of course if you decide to hammer your phone face on, no case or screen protector is going to help. 😝

I tend to agree with the last poster that these particular models (6 and 6+) might best be enjoyed screen-protector-free, in a good case with a lip. However, for those whose phones might come into contact with sand or dirt and insist on screen protectors, I've found an interesting combination. This Luvvit case:

http://www.amazon.com/iPhone-LUVVITT®-Transparent-Screen-screen/dp/B00JYKGF8S/re f=cm_cr_pr_product_top

fits perfectly with the Best Skins Ever iPhone 6 glossy full-screen protector:

http://www.bestskinsever.com/iphone-6-skins

Best Skins Ever sell two types of screen protectors - one that covers the whole screen (it really does - to within a fraction of a mm) and one that is "case friendly". I've never liked the "case friendly" versions, as I think they look clunky, but for the iPhone 6 (I've no experience with the 6 Plus), the full-screen protector covers everything not covered by the above Luvvit case. There are no gaps. It's able to cover the whole screen because it's not rigid - it's a rubbery, invisible-shield-type wet-install film that is able to conform to the curves on the edges and corners of the phone.

Some words of caution though. The Luvvit case above is very minimalist. It's not much more than just a skin, but it covers the volume and power buttons, all the edges and corners and it fits like a glove on the phone. For me, this case is a keeper, but you might need a more substantial case if you plan on putting your phone through any serious drop tests ;-) The jury is still out on the Best Skins Ever screen protector. I've never been a fan of wet-install films for phone screens. They tend to have a slight orange-peel effect, they're hard to install and even harder to install without getting dust or lint under the screen (which you can then never remove without removing the screen protector and throwing it away) and they don't have the same oleophobic property of the original, naked screen. They also have a tendency to peel up at the edges - which I suspect will eventually happen to mine. But some folks might find this useful until a better, full-screen tempered glass protector comes along.

BodyGuardz was mentioned earlier, but didn't really get any discussion. They offer 5 different models, including glass and film.

And they do offer one model (UltraTough Clear Skins) that, they say, goes to the edge of the face.

I haven't used their products, but I'm very impressed with their web site with detailed videos.

See this YouTube video for an overview/demo of all models.

Has anyone actually used BodyGuardz?

An update on my earlier post about the Best Skins Ever screen protector... it's failing already - peeling up at the corners :-(

Thanks to the last poster for the info on the Skonomi product. I actually bought that screen protector too, however the one they sent me

did not cover that much of the screen and wasn't as well cut as the Best Skins Ever protector (but maybe I received an earlier version?). There are many claims out there (i.e., Zagg) touting "full body coverage", when, by "full", they actually mean about 80%.

It looks like many of us are holding out for this iloome product, but I've already got concerns about that. I'm used to paying $5-$10 for PET film screen protectors that come 2 to a packet. So even if you mess up (which is rare with PET film), you get a second shot at it. Also, with PET film, you can easily lift sections of the protector to remove dust specs with some tape. This way, you end up with a perfect install. PET film products that I've used in the past (e.g., Green Onions and Steinheil oleophobic films) then look so good you can't see them at all. However, out of the several dozen PET film installs I've done (even in super-steamy bathrooms), I have never ever achieved a 100% dust-free install in one shot. There's always a few dust specs that prevent the film from adhering perfectly without bubbles. But PET film lets you remove that dust, spec by spec, by partial lifting the screen protector and using scotch tape. You don't have that luxury with the invisible shield/Skinomi/Best-Skins-Ever-type screen protectors. If you get dust under those in step one, it's not coming off. It's the same story with most tempered glass protectors - you get one shot at it. Based on my previous experience installing similar devices, the odds of me achieving a perfect install in one shot is basically zero. Maybe the result will still be good enough to tolerate, but either way, $25 for one shot is kind of pricey.

I'm looking forward to hearing some feedback on the iloome temperered glass protector from any willing guinea pigs early adopters ;-)

The "perfect" install may be nearly impossible for any number of reasons, however I have had great success with glass protectors. Not to mention I love the feel of the glass way more than any film protectors I've encountered. For any type, try installing in the bathroom after a hot shower. The steam helps eliminate any dust in the air that can get on the screen in between cleaning and applying the screen protector. Short of that, if I've had any dust when I didn't do this trick, it's not noticeable unless the screen is off. Peeling back the film to remove the dust specks only creates the chance of other dust getting in there while you peel it back.

I have to admit I've never used or felt a glass protector, but I would assume that the bare glass of the iPhone is just as smooth, if not smoother. I have used the anti-glare film screen protector by Power Support for years, including now on my iPhone 6+, and it feels very, very smooth to me. If fact, it feels smoother than the iPhone glass because the film repels the oil and dirt on your finger, eliminating that drag. The clarity/crispness of the text/images is so excellent that I can't tell I have a screen protector on my phone.

So good to see that many responses/reviews. I just bought this on as a temporary measure:

http://www.amazon.com/iPhone-Screen-Protector-Ultra-i-Blason/dp/B00M10GWWM/ref=s r_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412201616&sr=8-1&keywords=iphone+6+screen+protector

Aaaaand it *****. The feel to the phone is definitely changed and doesn't even gets close to cover the front of the phone, let alone the curved surface. I'll keep my eyes in this thread until we find a "consensus" .

I like the idea of posting pictures of the film/glass on your phone. Also I got really interested in this one mentioned before:

http://smile.amazon.com/Skinomi%C2%AE-TechSkin-Replacement-Definition-Anti-Bubbl e/dp/B00KXDMBZG/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

But until I read something about it I'll keep my temporary one on.

I think you'd be disappointed with Skinomi. I've tried it. It's similar to (but not quite as good as) the "glossy" Best Skins Ever screen protectors.

All these wet-install films are great for flat plastic or aluminum surfaces, but none of them adhere well to glass. They adhere even less well to curved glass. They do, however, adhere really, really well to fine dust particles, lint and other debris which will - 100% guaranteed, no matter how steamy your bathroom - get under your screen protector when you install it. If you have poor eyesight, this might not bother you. For me, it detracts from an otherwise beautiful screen.

These wet-install films do at least give you a choice between poorly-cut "screen friendly" films which look stupid and only cover 80% of the glass surface, and more precision-cut films that cover all (or nearly all) of the curved glass surface on the 6/6+. The full-screen films look ok for the first day or two, but they don't like to adhere to smooth, curved glass and it doesn't take long before they lift up at the edges and the corners.

IMHO, there's no iPhone 6 or 6 Plus screen protector out there right now that's worth wasting your money on. I'm eagerly awaiting reviews on the iloome product...

I've had every iPhone since 2007, plus several iPads, and have never had a screen protector on any of them. I've never had issues with scratches.

Common sense says don't put your phone in your pocket with your keys, don't set it face down without a case on it to keep the glass from rubbing, and don't throw it in your purse unprotected. Scratches don't happen by magic - something has to physically scratch the glass. If you're careful to keep that from happening, you won't have scratches.
