yeah I've heard good and bad stuff about that Skinomi one. I think I'll just have a film one for now until something good comes out. I've had my 4S for over two years with no case or screen protector and until almost a month before changing I got a pretty scratch all across the front screen. So just for the sake of it I'll have a film installed.

THanks

Am I wrong to be looking for a glass screen protector that fits the curve but also comes with a case or can be used with a case? Tried to post this as a separate question but was told it did not belong in a discussion on Apple Support Discussions. As so many here do discuss and await the Iloome protector, can that be used along with a protective case? Or will there be some combo cases/glass protectors that do it all? My previous cases all came with plastic screen but you folks have convinced me that glass is preferred.

Thanks

You're not wrong :-) The problem is that flat plastic/vinyl/PET/invisible shield, etc. film just won't do a good job of covering the full curved glass screen of the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. The iloome curved glass protector isn't released until October 5th, so it's too early to know if it will work with your particular case (or even if it will work well without any case!).

Having uses screen protectors for a while, they are worth it. Tempered glass is great against scratches, not so great against impact.

I'd rather crack a glass screen protector than a phone display. Now thats out of the way....

Right now you have 2 choices of screen protectors. Plastic film ones, some of the newer ones provide 100% coverage (like SGP 3D Film), but never feel as nice as glass and will get scratched eventually.

Glass ones feel like the phone phone screen, and if properly applied appear almost invisible. Right now though they don't cover 100% of the screen. This will be resolved over the next couple of months. The Samsung S4 had a curved screen and the initial glass screen protectors didn't offer full coverage, that changed later.

It takes time to make a product, and even simple things like screen protectors would have started production before the iPhone 6 was officially announced. Now they are out, expect to see better quality ones appear soon.

If glass protectors are preferred, as many suggest, then the remaining issues for me are 1) do they handle the curve in the iPhone screen and 2) are they compatible with cases. It seems that both answers will take time to discover, but if one has to prioritize, which issue is most important or can both be addressed? It seems to me that a wise business decision would be to create cases that couple with glass protectors that address the curve.

I used to think the same thing until my new iPhone 6 fell this weekend and the screen SHATTERED!!! 😢 I am heartbroken and sick to my stomach. I thought it was protected in an Otterbox with a regular screen saver and i was WRONG! Luckily I have insurance on it, BUT I now have to wait for an unknown amount of time for them to come off backorder. 😟 As soon as my new new phone comes in I have a Tempered Glass Screen Protector waiting for it and will probably get an even tougher case.

I'm no expert but have had some experience with glass screen protectors. I'm thinking that a glass screen protector won't be a lot of help if the phone is dropped on its side but is definitely of major use for direct impact onto the screen. My wife shut the car door on her 5s and the spigen protector saved her even though the phone bent a little.

CarrotTop73 how did your phone land when it dropped and was it a high drop?

Sorry to hear about your iPhone CarrotTop73 :-( I think you just got really unlucky, because the Commuter cases have a raised lip. I wouldn't beat yourself up over your choice of screen protector. An unlucky strike to the screen could have shattered both the screen and a glass screen protector. Besides, there's currently no glass screen protector that would have covered all your screen anyway. Iloome's product is released today, but it's pretty thick (about 0.6 mm). That might not sound like much, but it's about 5 times thicker than PET film, so it's not going to be compatible with all cases.

There seem to be 2 products out there with solid cases and built in screen protectors

Armorbox Full-Body Protection

http://www.i-blason.com/iphone-6-cases.html and

Survivor All-Terrain for iPhone 6

http://store.griffintechnology.com/survivor-iphone-4?gclid=CIirkrn1mMECFYqBfgodI HcAlA.

Does anyone have experience with this type of built in screen protector? It seems to solve the concerns expressed by many about the current inability of anything out there that covers and protects the whole screen
