I followed your instructions and moved the kext file to the trash. When I wanted to download iTunes, this error popped up - "update requires OS X version 10.7.5 or later". I'm still using OS X 10.6.8, so in this case, how can I download iTunes?

As of today, you'll need the older 11.4 version of iTunes. Version 12 was released today.

That's a screw up on Apples end. If you don't want to wait for them to fix it. Trash your current iTunes app, or at least move it out of the Applications folder, download and install iTunes 10.7, and then see if Software Update will get you up to 11.4.

If I were you, I would wait. You won't be the only one in need of iTunes 11.4 now that iTunes 12 requires Lion or above.

I'm having the same issue as of today. I have trashed the extension, but now can't upgrade iTunes in order to get the new one. Still redirecting me to upgrade my OSX to 7.

If it is not causing problems and you can sync your devices normally via USB, ignore it. If it does cause problems or reappears, go to hard drive level/System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext and move the file to the trash. Reinstall iTunes 11.4, which should fix the problem. Then restart.
