iOS 8 Remote update not displaying album art of currently playing album

Today's Remote 4.2.1 update with iOS 8 seems to not be displaying album artwork of the currently playing track. I instead see placeholder grey text of the artist and album over a darker grey field. Anyone else with this issue?

Brilliant !

I did scratched IPA both from Itunes & Iphone.

Restored it from Time Machine, dragged it into Itunes.

Checked the app in Itunes to be reinstalled on Iphone.

Synced ... And the art is back.

I also turned off the automatic App update on Iphone settings.

I have some difficulties to figure out how with Apple's technical power,

they don't test their releases deeper than that !...

.../...

They also changed some features in last Itunes release :

If you try to access to a radio information in a playlist, you cannot update the album name,

wich was useful to group several radios under a single album instead of having as many

albums as radios in your playlists showing up when you choose the Itunes presentation by albums.

The funny thing is that with the glitch on Remote last release,

instead of showing the two black notes on the Remote current playing screen,

they show the name of the album of the radio (for those I did update before last Itunes release of course.)

Well !

Thanks again,

Let's wait for Apple Remote bug correction.

Regards,

Jean.

Same exact problem too. I even had it before "upgrading" to ios 8. It appears to be an app problem. I see the art fine when playing the sngs on the iPhone or iPad or playing directly in iTunes. Just not when I'm using the Remote app. Apple strikes again; I'd think they would have a test script to check these things out before releasing an update but I'd think wrong, it seems. And these problems are getting more common. They're getting lazy.

it's NOT an alternate app but I use an inelegant workaround. I just connect my iPad or iPhone to my PC via Bluetooth, open the Music app on the device and play my songs that way. It's really not the best method, but at least I see the album art that I either installed myself or paid for. As I said above, Apple is slipping these days very badly.

Here's an odd aspect to all this. In the Remote app, I can navigate back to the Up Next song list, and see that there are no artwork thumbnails in that list either. But if I refresh the list, then the artwork oh-so-slowly does fill in. I thought, great, I have forced the app to retrieve those images and the Now Playing view will soon catch up. Nope. Regardless of whether the artwork is viewable in your playlist, or when you go to the screen for the album itself, Now Playing stubbornly refuses to show you the cover art.

PS This is true on my iPhone 6 and iPad Air so it's not just a hardware thing.
