iOS 8 Remote update not displaying album art of currently playing album

Today's Remote 4.2.1 update with iOS 8 seems to not be displaying album artwork of the currently playing track. I instead see placeholder grey text of the artist and album over a darker grey field. Anyone else with this issue?

So is there anywhere I can get this version 4.2 to roll back (I think all I can find is my latest 4.2.1)?

Additionally, do I have to turn off all auto updating of ALL my apps till this is resolved (to keep the 4.2 from being "automatically" updated back to 4.2.1?) - is there a way of just not updating this one app?

If you have an iTunes backup from before upgrading to Remote 4.2.1, simply delete 4.2.1 from your device and connect it to iTunes. In iTunes, click on your device's Apps tab, select the Remote app and click install. Then sync. The version from the last sync will be installed. If you'd already done an iTunes backup after installing 4.2.1, then alas this won't work.

Regarding Auto Updating of apps. Some of my biggest tech disasters have been app "updates". Hence I never never never allow Auto Updating. Was it the Netflix 3.0 "update" that locked out all users for about 3 weeks a couple years ago? And the latest update to Shazam 8.0 deletes years of wonderful Geolocation data from one's tags without warning.

I always make sure I have an iTunes backup before updating apps, and even then I read the reviews before updating any apps that I consider important.

I have the same problem as well as many other crashing and slow issues - in my opinion the original Apple platform I moved over to several years ago has now become inherently flawed. Having had several years of iMac 24", iPad 2 and iPhone 3G and 4 usage without any problems (which is why I moved from Microsoft - I just wanted tech to work), my troubles started with the iPhone 5, which has been very poor as a phone and regularly defaults settings on its own. Signal strength and call quality is poor. Since recent updates, non of this kit works as it once did. iPad stutters all the time, apps take ages to loud on all devices, I am rubbish at typing, but constantly find myself waiting for them to catch up etc.etc.etc....

In my opinion Apple has tried to move too fast and released both hardware and software before they are fully ready - it seems like the quality has been surpassed for profit. I know they are trying to tell me that well over £2k worth of kit is now obsolete, even though the oldest is only 5 years. By the same token my 8 year old Windows 7 PC (self built) is still working remarkably well.

Anyway enough ranting and back to listening to some music, even though only every other album artwork displays.

I wish I could help, but I don't know anything about file sharing other than sending Grandma a picture of my daughter. I have some techie friends, and I asked one about this last night, and she said that she had seen it posted someplace called seedpeer.me. I don't know what exactly she tried to explain to me next (I was drunk and I'm not tech savvy), but she is trustworthy. She said it's called ios-remote and to to use the magnet. Sorry I can't be of any more help than that. I hope that people here know what she was talking about.

I have talked to several people today who have pointed out a few things to me.

Even though this was once a free app through the app store, it no longer is available there, and, as such, its download from another site could violate Apple's terms of service. Moreover, my calling attention to it here likely violates terms of service in this community, and I apologize to everyone for having mentioned what I did above. If it's any consolation, I didn't even get the information that I posted correct. The file's name is not the one that I reported, which, the uploaded told me, didn't work. She had to upload it numerous times until it worked, and, by that time she posted the final torrent file, the file name had already been used. So, I hope that there is no harm and no foul.

Again, my sincere apologizes. If anyone wants to discuss my behavior with me, I am easy to find in various other popular intertubes.

Same problem here.

I've left an unfavourable review on the app store for the latest version, I see one other user has done the same. Perhaps if enough of us post unfavourable reviews there, it will get the attention of someone in Apple marketing, who has a much better chance of being listened to than customers, it seems.

The app store entry is here: https://itunes.apple.com/za/app/remote/id284417350?mt=8

wmv: I did the same many moons ago. Quite a few others have too and it can't hurt. But I think Apple just doesn't care anymore. They're laughing all the way to the bank. I just got the iPad Air 2 last week and it came with a defective SIM card. I called their technical support line and you know what their response was? I should go and work it out with my carrier. After this iPad and iPhone bite the dust, I'm switching to a Surface and an Android. I've had enough.
