iPhone not syncing mulitmedia after iOS 8 update

OS 10.7.5

iTunes 11.4 (18)

iPhone 5s iOS8

I just recently updated to iOS 8 and now I'm not able to sync my music and movies to my iPhone. The free space is not taken when the sync completes and the when selecting my iPhone and checking it's contents in iTunes, it shows both the music and video library that all the files that should be in there, but with an dashed circuit next to all of them (showing they were not synced).

Has anyone experienced this and what is the cause? Is this related to the iOS upgrade? More importantly, how can I resolve this?

Basically, I've only done a restart on both my iPhone and on my Mac after a restart in iTunes didn't work.

Edit: I should add that a few (less than 50) songs were actually added. What I did was remove all my movies and music prior to the iOS 8 update to clear space. Once the update went through (seems to have had no issues), I went to sync my playlists back. It was then I discovered that the files were showing they should be there, but were not actually synced.

In my case iTunes was saying I did not have enough space, but I knew I did. I tried going to the phone to delete all my music, but when I when back into music, songs - it looked like it was all still there.

For me, it ended up that I had used multiple apple ID's over the years and once I authorized my computer for ALL APPLE ID's the sync worked.

Perhaps this will help.

GRRRRR. Still having problems. After entering all the Apple ID's I was finally able to back up my phone. Then I did a complete restore as a new phone. Checked Sync Only Songs (above), and was able to get a successful sync - ONCE!!!! Now that I try to sync again, it fails to copy the music. ITunes seems to be having issue recognizing what is on the phone, and clearing and/or replacing music. I have been forced to go to SETTINGS - GENERAL - RESET - ERASE ALL CONTENT AND SETTINGS in order to clean the phone off, and then restore all apps - AGAIN -. and then do a clean sync of my music. This process works, but [_)#&*()?} I can't be doing this every time I need to sync. There is a very serious bug somewhere. These two Apple products (iTunes and iOS) are simply not talking the same language to each other.

Thanks for the tip. This worked for me! A bit happier now but getting a bit annoyed that Apple are making things so difficult for users. 😠 Sorry to those that love apple...I did too but seriously considering moving to Samsung. Don't want to waste half my life trying to fix the problems apple are creating...Using their expensive devices should not be this hard!!!

I'm having the same issues. iPhone 5s will not sync Music period!! This is Nonsense. This is a iTunes, iCloud, and iPhone issue!! I've taken screen pics on my iMac, Music- Movies- Tones- ALL 3 tabs are UnChecked, yet All 3 remain in the Colored Summary Status Bar, Before sync and after. They only move when I uncheck the Options; Sync only checked songs and videos. Which is a box that I know needs to be checked and the :Manually manage music and videos. At first my Videos weren't syncing along with Music, Now it's just the Music. There is a Serious Problem and I for one, didn't not Pay for this NonSense!! Getting Really ****** at #APPLE.

This problem started last year when ios 8 was released. I think apple is trying to force users to buy music on iTunes store and that's why it's impossible to sync other music and also that's the reason why they haven't solved this serious problem. That's really disappoints me and i'm angry with apple because i have like 10 gb of music in mp3 and i can't sync music from iTunes to my iPhone.

I'm adding this because it seems to be related in some way to this issue.

I spent 45 minutes at the "genius" bar at my local Apple store tonight. Exceedingly frustrating session. Proved that the behavior in Photos app is "different" in two ways:

1) Videos shot on phone are not pulled and uploaded to Photos during sync. Their response: Sync for photos is one-way (iTunes pushing to the mobile device). Aperture and iPhoto didn't behave this way. Solution: choose to manually import videos once the sync is complete.

2) Pushing events and events from last x period of time ignores video when sending to the mobile device from iTunes on a Mac.

So, if you shoot a video on your phone or ipad, it won't automatically sync to iTunes but you can manually manage them. Once the video is in iTunes you can't push it out to another device.

Example of the above: Shot a video on my phone. Want to get it on my iPad to watch again later. Can't.

Only thing I could do is be sent home to reset the iPad and try syncing again after setting up the device. An hour and a half after starting that process, I did a sync and - IT STILL DOESN'T WORK.

Heading back to the "genius" bar to ask for an escalation (they can talk to engineers directly). Any other suggestions or words of wisdom I should share would be welcome.
