IOS 8 lost camera roll

I just did the IOS8 update on my Iphone 5s and now I have no album for camera roll and instead it has 'Recently Added' which only has 25 photos instead of my 1000+ photos I had originally before the update. I still have all my photos on the collections bit but not in an album like before the update.

Help please?

Yes, it has changed. The Camera Roll is gone. You can make your albums as before.

I thought i lost my photos from Photo Stream but they were hidden , just deactivate Photo Stream in Settings > Photos and Camera > My Photo Stream , it will say something about deleting , ignore that and press delete, then activate it again and be connected to wifi , all your pictures will start appearing in the Recently Added folder in the Photos App

Agree with everyone here, the lack of camera roll and being able to distinguish which photos where taken on my phone and which are in the Photostream really does suck. I have disabled Photostream and create a shared folder/album so any photos I want to view on my iPad I can copy to this. Will back up photos using Dropbox from here on, at least they will be full resolution and not a low res Photostream version.

Bad move Apple, don't know what you were thinking.

How has nobody said this already? The submit button is there. Change browsers. If you're using Chrome, play with the mouse scroll thing zooming in and out. You'll see it pop up. It's a problem with the browser. The submit button on feedback is there. It just gets hidden depending on the browser. if you do the feedback thing from your iphone's safari you'll probably see the button. play with it!!!!!

Regarding camera roll.... again........

People, go to feedback and complain about it. A lot. Those idiots havent even posted the iOS 8 category when you specify the OS of your phone. Cant even give feedback properly. But send them anyway. Hopefully they'll come to reason......

WORST UPDATE EVER. First time i complain about ANYTHING regarding iphone software. First time since i bought my first smartphone (iphone 3g).

Lets make it clear this it's not about "getting used to it" or it just being weird at the begginging. Im not gonna get used to it. it looks ugly and stupid and it's really a hassle. I thought apple's OS's were supposed to be easy, intuitive and user friendly. Removing the camera roll is the dumbest thing they couldve done.

Had to call my mom and tell her not to update.... It was gonna be days of explaining over and over the new change and she wouldve probably never understood.

Your photos of your dogs should still be on your iphone. They won't be found in your Recently Added album unless they were recently added to your iphone. The Photos app opens in Album view, but to view all your old photos that were on your iphone, select Photos at the bottom and you can scroll back to view older photos. The photos are sorted by date the photo was taken.

I don't see the issue with the change. Recently Added is a combination of your PhotoStream and recently taken pictures on that device (iPad or iPhone). Therefor each of your devices would have the same Recently Added photos. The photos taken on a device would be in Recently Added for the duration defined by PhotoStream and would disappear from Recently added when they passed the photostream time or photo count limit. I find this easier to understand than the old Camera Roll/Photo Stream setup.

The photos taken on the device would always be found in the Photos section until you delete them.

Previously it was easy to show people pictures of my dog, from the time he was a puppy unitl today. Just go to "Camera Roll", where I kept them (and deleted everything else after I'd downloaded it). Now, I can only easily show pictures of the 2 year old dog from the time he was a year and 11 months. If I want to show him as a puppy I have to enter the "Collection", search through a thousand Photostream photos, plus any other photos I happened to have synced to the device from iPhoto, to find the 14 of my dog. Then when I find the first I can't just swipe from one to the next, but have to begin the search process again. It is a massive database of photos, a huge stew differentitated only minimally by date and location.

Yes, I could make a Favorites album and devote it to the dog, but my phone collection has 2200 photos in it now and why all of a sudden do I have to devote the time and effort necessary to go through them, one by one, to find and tag my dog photos? Plus even when I am done with that, and have a nice Favorites album full of dogs, it won't help me one bit if someone asks if I still have one of the cat, by itself, the day the dog treed it. If I didn't Favorite it, I've got to search all over!

Eh. This is a mess. Please folks take your concerns to Apple Feedback -

I Have the same problem. I have used iPad since it was introduced. I use it for work and so does my whole office. Over the years I have painstakingly created photos folders each dedicated to a different project that I work on so I can access them whenever I need to categorized by subject (not by date!). These are not family photos from vacations and parties. This is my primary professional tool! Now, with the ios8 'upgrade' all of this information has been scattered all over the place. Thousands of photos grouped meticulously over the years! Apple had no right to do this! Years of work have gone down the drain for me. Can someone please send this message to the management of 'Apple' ? they might appreciate what just happened to me. Apple: Please provide a cure!

That's it exactly. While our photos older than 30 days are still accessible, the increased number of steps required to find/access them makes it inconvenient and not at all intuitive. I think it's just another little "push" (i.e. Apple forcing us) to use iCloud, which nauseates me. I'll sooner go Samsung than use that **** iCloud for my photos.
