IOS 8 lost camera roll

I just did the IOS8 update on my Iphone 5s and now I have no album for camera roll and instead it has 'Recently Added' which only has 25 photos instead of my 1000+ photos I had originally before the update. I still have all my photos on the collections bit but not in an album like before the update.

Help please?

Yes, it has changed. The Camera Roll is gone. You can make your albums as before.

Long time Apple user here. If I'm forced to use this new photo app, though, I'm not buying the new iPhone. Bring back the camera roll, Apple. If not, I'm finished with your phone.

You're not addressing Apple here. No one here has any particular interest in what phone you use or what you threaten not to buy. Submit your feedback directly to Apple using the appropriate link on the Feedback page:

Here is the problem: Camera Roll was in effect an album. Many of us used it as an inbox for photos to be sorted. If the photo was moved to an album, we deleted it from the Camera Roll.

With iOS 8, Apple *deleted* the metadata defining what photos were in the Camera Roll. So what if the photos themselves are still available?

Does anyone here use LightRoom or any similar photo organizer? What if all the metadata defining what albums your photos were in was deleted, and all your photos were put in one big folder? Would you feel good because the photos themselves were not deleted?

There was no warning of this and no opportunity to move the Camera Roll photos to albums. Intentionally deleting metadata without warning is a serious issue. Have I misunderstood this? Is there some other explanation or workaround?

BRING BACK CAMERA ROLL!!!!!

Just chose any iOS and be descriptive in your feedback and then the submit button will show. You will get no response here.

In iOS7 I could tell which pictures were eating up my iCloud space. Only camera roll pictures count against iCloud space. I could sync my camera roll to my Mac, delete my camera roll on the iPhone, then sync back what I wanted to keep on the phone to manage my 5 GB iCloud space. With iOS8, now I have no clue which pictures are which. Apple, this can't be that difficult. Managing pictures on an iPhone just got a lot more difficult. You need to fix this and make it simple.

In the mean time, you need to post some DETAILED instructions on how photos work with family share and iCloud, and how to manage them on your device.

Shouldn't have to go to all this trouble. Whoever thought this up needs to be sent back to Microsoft, the 27 steps required is very Microsoft-like and NOT why I stick with Apple. Anyone looking for recents is looking for photos taken on their phone and NOT just the 13 or so available now. This is officially the Worst Idea Ever by "Applesoft".

My photos are all there. I just go to Collections. They are far better organized there than they were in the Camera Roll. I'm really liking this.
