I just did the IOS8 update on my Iphone 5s and now I have no album for camera roll and instead it has 'Recently Added' which only has 25 photos instead of my 1000+ photos I had originally before the update. I still have all my photos on the collections bit but not in an album like before the update.
Help please?
Yes, it has changed. The Camera Roll is gone. You can make your albums as before.

Its annoying - to get around it, I created a new album - called old camera roll (im pretty simple 🙂)
Then selected all pictures in the collection area, and pasted them into the new album - almost as good as new, and no need to look through collections.
Along with all the reasons everyone misses the camera roll, I too miss it for many reasons. I have a nephew and I would take all the pictures of him out of the camera roll and put them in their own album. Then use the camera roll as we all did. But now, I cannot separate the photos of my nephew because they all just show up in the "photos" view. And it's a complete mess. a complete inconvenienc.

Yup. Now every picture my kids take with an old iOS device shows up on my phone - photo stream used to be a nice way of checking in to see what they were finding interesting, but now their junk is interwoven, inextricably, with photos I'm taking on my device. What's worse is, I can't delete any of their photos from my device without removing them entirely from the photo stream!

I find this very annoying. I am so angry! I loved the simple camera roll. Now I can't even find my photo stream pics. Thank god for my Mac otherwise they would all be lost. Really bad move, Apple..
Horrible change. Bring back the camera roll!!! I had 5,000 photos in that. I don't want Photo Stream pics getting clogged up in my collections that are from my wife's photos from the iMac. Stop messing up a good thing in the name of change.
Totally agree with you, really bad move from apple, the collection area its all messed up, and if you try to send a pic through whatsapp for example you need to create a new album with all your pictures because otherwise they wont show up, my iphone 5 is slower than before and for some reason i really find upsetting the removal of the camera roll it stresses me out not having all my pictures in one place thats easy to move around. I hope they bring it back, because lets be honest, apple rarely (next to never) accepts its mistakes.

😟 😟 wth?!?!?!? I would really love the camera roll back. I hate having those ugly Recently Added and Deleted albums. Plus the Hidden pictures.... That i wouldnt need to hide if i had the original camera roll!!!!! Everything else is perfect in the update. Just please let us hide the recently albums and bring back camera roll 😟

True! As a medical student, I rely on my camera roll to check past photos of notes and pages in books. The old camera roll makes that effiicent to find for me since I can just scroll through. Now, I have to look through categories of dates and all that. Makes it harder to look for the photos since they're not compressed together.
The way I see it, i remember my notes with the photos near it but with the collections tab, i can't see the photos compressed together so I have no visual of where my notes was placed. Pls bring back the old camera roll apple.

The simplicity of managing pictures in an iPhone is probably the very reason why I bought the apple device in the first place.
I am a lawyer, and I had hundreds of photos of documents in my Camera Roll along with all other photos and videos. I always knew exactly where to look for them. Now with the Camera Roll gone I have no idea how to find anything. This is very annoying!

Yes it is very annoying. Not a great job apple. We want the old camera roll back on iphone. Don't make things harder for us. Not a great move for IOS8. Please someone make an update to bring the old camera roll back!!! ðŸ˜
Yes very annoying indeed, when looking through photos using the collections option is Rather annoying particulary when accessing them from the messaging app as the photos are not compressed and makes looking for a particular photo a lot longer, accessing the camera roll was a lot easier. Also from apps such as whatsapp there is no way of accessing all my photos, but instead this stupid new 'Recently added'. Another major problem is that when I try to create an album to put all my photos in to replace the now gone camera roll, it jumbles up the order, instead of sorting them out by date. Please bring back the camera roll Apple. Huge mistake getting rid of it
