iOS 8 Health App - Change Units

Hi everyone,

I have started using the Health App to log my blood glucose measurements. Has anyone figured out how to change the units from mg/dl to mmol/l for example? Is there a settings somewhere for that? If not, should an Apple representative be reading this, are there plans to support more global units?

Thanks.

Yes indeed. When at first I wanted to post about this topic, I ended up posting into the "iPhone" category because I could not find a way to navigate to iOS 8 or Heath app. I suppose and I have seen this before, the forums get updated last. Also, it does seem that a lot of apps got released to use the HealthKit API but had to remove it as Apple is still working on a couple of issues. I do hope that before the next release (I would assume iOS 8.0.1 or something similar), they would have picked up on the units stuff. Hence maybe the need for all of us to submit feedback.

+1

It needs to have an option to input glucose levels in mmol/l

It'd been very useful if Apple can do this, although us Brits do like to mix things up! I weigh myself in stones but weigh other things in kilos, measure myself in feet and travel in miles, but for DIY always work in centimetres and meters, drink a pint but have other liquids in ml, or even tend to do winter temperatures in Celsius and summer ones in Fahrenheit . But some choice of metric or imperial for each area of the health app would make it much more useful.

While Canada officially uses the Metric system we do also continue to use many of the Imperial measurements of yesteryore. Keep in mind though that the US regional settings will give you US measurements which are different from the Imperial measurements historically used in Canada. For example: In Canada one Imperial gallon equals 4.55 litres where as one US Gallon equals approximately 3.8 litres.

It may be more appropriate for Canadians wanting to use the old system to reference the UK Region for Imperial measurements rather than the US which will provide US Customary measurements.

Couldn't agree more. The app in its current form, with no way of changing the units, is of no use to me, assuming of course that I wanted it in the first place. The fact that it was forced on to my iPhone with ios8 and cannot be deleted, may be tracking me but I have no way of switching it off, and Apple's feedback site has no place to comment on this app all add up to a pretty grim picture.

I had changed the Location to a country using metric which was working fine.

However now with ApplePay in the US gone live, if I leave my Location as the other country, then nothing to do with ApplePay shows up in Settings. If I go and change location back to the US, then presto I see the ApplePay and Bankcards line in Settings.

Arghh..why can't Apple deal with people who actually move house to other countries in the 21st century? I hate being forced to use pounds when we think in kg.

So, I hadn't realized this: http://www.macrumors.com/2014/10/16/blood-glucose-tracking-temporarily-removed-h ealth/ until I've wanted to checkout my data today. I then didn't see my blood glucose measurements in the dashboard and panicked. At some point it was there, at another point it was gone. Huh? In any case, they may have heard us and seem to be working on a fix.

Success! I wanted to change units, too, & knew I had done it before but couldn't remember how - finally found it. It's done in the app and for those items that have changeable units, changed individually.

Open the Health app.

Choose Health Data (at bottom)

Go to List view (as opposed to Calendar) at top.

Go to All.

Choose the section header (e.g., Blood Glucose)

Choose Unit.

For Blood Glucose, the options are mg/dl or mmol/L, for Walking/Running Distance, options are km or mi.

Hope that helps 🙂
