Push notifications not working with iOS8?

Hey there,

I updated my iphone 5 with iOS8 this morning, it all worked fine for a few hours but I've recently noticed the past few hours I'm not getting notifications showing up. All my settings are set appropriately (I doubled checked, and never change it anyway they are all always set to on), just all of a sudden I don't actually get notified of any activity despite their being activity.

Is this a bug or something? I wasn't even aware I had new messages in whatsapp and likes on instagram, even text messages and missed calls until I actually checked the apps, not even a little red circle on the apps, this is very frustrating and has never happened before. I've tried restarting etc and didn't help.

Any help would be awesome!

For some reason Instagram disappeared from the iphone notifications list. Now it works perfect - oh and I changed the date back to the current day and worked fine.

did the same. After re-installation, instagram (it's the only app i don't receive push-ups from) asked if I want tov receive po-ups, I agreed, but still don't get them and the issue that I see this when i want to check Notofication setting in the app

I can't believe it but my last possible solution before I let it go and proceeded with setting up the iPhone as a new device worked !!!

So here's what I did:

Backed up again to iTunes.
Restored device using iTunes (full iTunes restore - not 'reset all content' from iPhone).
Downloaded and opened WhatsApp.
Didn't allow it to restore from it's own iCloud backup service.
Tested and saw notifications were working.
Restored using backup.
Tested whatsapp working !
Tested Skype working !

Not sure which of these steps made the difference, perhaps running whatsapp after the backup restore was redundant but perhaps not... who knows besides iOS engineers ;-)

Hope this can be used to help others.

Thanks this actually helped a lot and now my notifications appear at the top of my screen now

Try to change the DNS server setting in your WiFi SSID.

Change it to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 Google public DNS servers.

This solves my issue. Hope yours solves too.

There's no need to reset your phone.
