iOS 8 camera roll is missing!!!

The missing camera roll is a nightmare!!!

Worst iOS experience ever. Honestly spoken I am thinking of replacing my Apple stuff by other devices. Again the "greatest" Update ever was promised, but I do not see anything great at all. I realy feel cheated now!

And the missing camera roll really annoys me. The collection is a very bad experience because most of the places are simply wrong and now there is no way to go chronological through all of my photos. Of course I can create an album with all of my photos, but how does it help? Should I add every single new photo I take?

I hope a lot of users are of that opinion so please reply and Apple will here this. Looking forward to the first update!

I encourage everyone who has a bee in their bonnet about this issue (as I do), to submit feedback http://www.apple.com/feedback/.

In the form I selected "enhancement request", and just requested that we be allowed to toggle the 'moments' sorting on and off.

I am sure I am not the only one who is annoyed/alarmed to see their personal and work photos summarily jumbled together. Or worse, split into arbitrary locations. I have several different directories for the same location!

Wow chuck,

Apparently you didn't actually read the words in the post that you quoted. I never said Photos was an Album. I said the Photos option is there in iOS 8 as well. The same Photos option that is in iOS 7. Exactly the same.

You are totally wrong about any sort of "Photos" album being anywhere in iOS 8. There is no such thing.

Next time, before you become so condescending, you might want to do a better job of articulating in a clear manner what it is you are trying to communicate. I am fully aware of how the app works, how Photo Stream works, and what the Camera Roll function is.

the reason MyRoll is only showing me 300 of my pictures is because it'll only show the pictures that you have taken with that specific device. However, it also includes photos that you may have saved from Whatsapp, email, or the web.

So pictures taken on my iPhone and ferried to the iPad, are not in the Camera Roll in MyRoll.

sigh

Is that different than the pre-iOS 8 Camera Roll? I really only took photos on the phone, not the iPad, so I didn't much reason to compare. I always figured that photos imported to a device, unless explicitly saved "to Camera Roll", would not appear in that album. Which is what MyRoll shows. (FWIW, MyRoll shows me every former Camera Roll pic on my phone, back to 2008.)

So, you moved them to another device how? Saved them how? The method is the key here. In the post that John Dorsey answered from you, you indicated that photos "ferried" to the iPad were not in the Camera Roll on My Roll. It appears that John (as well as I) read that to mean photos pushed to the iPad via Photo Stream. You seem to be saying that you are using a different method.

Can you be a little more specific as to what your terms mean? Moved, Saved, Ferried?

Cheers,

Speaking from my own experience -

There are lots of ways other than pressing the shutter release, or Photostream, to get a photo onto an iOS device. You can "import" photos off of an SD card using the Camera Connection Kit. Those would sync to Photostream, but did not go into Camera Roll and had to be separately imported to that album if you wanted them there. You can sync photos to a device from a desktop's iPhoto albums or events - but those didn't go into Camera Roll either. Screen shots, downloads from web pages and saved images from e-mails and iMessages all did go to Camera Roll, as I recall.

So far I haven't seen any difference in the "Camera Roll" presented by MyRoll and the pre-iOS 8 Camera Roll on the same device, but I only ever put photos onto my iPad using the above methods, which I'm sure are not the universe.

I Hate this feature. I don't care what any of you say, I have gone into the photos tabs, created a new album, and added all Photos to the album and I'm still missing several HUNDRED. The new album lists 942 but my About section in settings lists over 1300 stored on the device under Photos. I know what photos I'm missing. THEY ARE GONE. I want to scroll through a grid of all of my photos in one folder like in Camera Roll. I hate going to photos>2012>Location>Hey your finally in a grid of pictures now scroll like you wanted to from step one!

Why folks like you refuse to back up important or irreplaceable data such as Photos has me amazed. If you don't backup it is a matter of WHEN not IF you lose your data.
