iOS 8 camera roll is missing!!!

The missing camera roll is a nightmare!!!

Worst iOS experience ever. Honestly spoken I am thinking of replacing my Apple stuff by other devices. Again the "greatest" Update ever was promised, but I do not see anything great at all. I realy feel cheated now!

And the missing camera roll really annoys me. The collection is a very bad experience because most of the places are simply wrong and now there is no way to go chronological through all of my photos. Of course I can create an album with all of my photos, but how does it help? Should I add every single new photo I take?

I hope a lot of users are of that opinion so please reply and Apple will here this. Looking forward to the first update!

Apparently Apple is hiding the Photos album in their own Photos app, but it should be visible in third party apps like Facebook. Stand by for a slew of third party Photos replacement apps that restore the Camera Roll functionality that most of us want.

Stop trolling. If you hate the iOS so much there are other phones and platforms you can use.

Cheers

so someone answer this for me. i purchase a brand new 6 4.7 outright and i waited a few months using a galaxy s4 in the interim (not a total android fan)

i got to like some aspects of android and hoped for some great additions in iOS 8 . BUT the first thing i found was upon setup and subsequent backup from iCloud the new iPhone 6 has a glitch- as stated- take a photo the thumbnail appears and will not go to camera roll when touched. get out of camera and go into photos manually and they are not there ,W.T.F .

erase the phone and setup as new and it all works - no need to tell me its all changed , i know. so then i restore from previous backup and the camera goes straight to crap again, I CANT TAKE ANY PHOTOS..

me reasoning to go for a new 6 and a 128gig as well was I'm going on holiday for 4 weeks thru europe and wanted to use a smart phone with a large capacity to store photos. Well thats the theory thats now blown away , i wish i could go back a week and just keep the galaxy s4 with a 64gig sd card

STARTING TO LOOSE FAITH APPLE - maybe i could have saved my $1128 AUD and bought a Galaxy s5 zoom (K) for less AAAAAAHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

oh and BTW theres an update to 8.0.2 already -- rolled it out a bit early did we ?

I upgraded to 8.0.2.

There is still no "Camera Roll" Album. There is no "Photos" Album. The "Photos" tab still takes you to "Collections/Moments".

The "Recently Added" Album still scrambles the sequence of images. They are not sorted in "Order Saved to the Device".

I tested several photo-related Apps. Some now let me see "All Photos", but through the Collections paradigm, which is not useful. One is still left trying to figure out where and why the photos are saved into Locations or Dates instead of simply seeing your images.

I tested Instagram, trying to upload an image I spliced into 9 separate images and wanted to upload in the specific order in which I created them. Instagram could now see "All Photos", but the order was scrambled, much like the Recently Added album.

So in all, the 8.0.2 provided marginal improvements and for my specific purposes is still not usable. What I need to be able to do is to:

1) access all my photos through photo-related sites and Apps

2) in the specific order I created those photos or saved them to my device

The end result is I'm downgrading, again, to 7.1.2.

Please, Hosts, don't delete this message. I'm not advocating everyone downgrade or explaining how to do so. I'm providing Community Support in the form of relating my experience with 8.0.2. Verdict: fail.

Please please take this explanation (compressed to fit within the character limitation) and post it to Apple Feedback. I would guess that a well-reasoned explanation of how a new arrangement impairs work (or fun-) flow would be much more persuasive than an all caps rant about how IOS 8 ***! (Not that you are guilty of the latter but rather that they surely see enough of that, and might actually read something that is, you know, reasoned.)

UPDATE:

As a result of a Chat support session with "Ryan", who is a freelance photographer so immediately understood my issue, I found a workaround in 8.0.2.

For whatever reason, going into Settings,Photos & Camera, and toggling the "Summarize Photos" setting Off then back On, forced the "Today" collection to organize things in the proper sequence, and after you check the Today Collection, the "Recently Added" Album showed photos in the sequence stored/saved.

Instagram also showed my photos in the proper sequence.

This is a nightmare, who designed this? I take a lot of photos at work that I want in a separate folder but don't want in photo stream, so I created a work folder, selected the photos I wanted and added them to the folder. Then they showed in recent items, even though they were taken months ago. I don't want them in recent items, so I deleted them and it deleted them from the folder I just created and from the "moments". How does this make sense? It seems your photos are either everywhere or nowhere, with no way to organize them. Seems like a pretty basic request to be able to organize photos and to be able to delete them from photo stream without also deleting them from the device like we could in ios7.

Updated to 8.0.2

No improvement with photos.

How hard is it to simply allow us to toggle the "moments"?

I'm not going to be hyperbolic and say a bunch of mean things. But this has certainly slowed down my enthusiasm for Apple products in general, as it causing me to spend hours re-organizing my photos, and I see ZERO benefit to the new automatic sorting.

I would just bail on 8 and go back to 7 but I have corporate reasons to stay on 8.

My immediate solution is simply to turn off Photostream on my iPhone. I really liked knowing that photos from the phone were automatically uploaded to the cloud (and in turn being downloaded and backed up by my always-on desktop) but the clutter and confusion of having local and Photostream photos lumped together, in nearly random order on the device (plus the inability to delete one without the other) is not worth it.

iOS 8 camera roll is missing!!!
