I did not get the opportunity to back mine up prior to moving to ios 8. Is there anyway I can fix mine still to the lastest verion of IOS 7?

I am having pretty much all the same issues as everyone above. I already tried a back up to the last one I had. It did not help and stayed on ios8. I have freezing of apps, my settings and content screen is freezing, I lost things in the icloud. It is a mess. I sure would like to have ios 7 again. Why would they not test this with older models. It is giving this user a very bad experience and a bad apple taste in his mouth!!!

It would be amazing if Apple put what version of IOS the user is running or attempting to restore in the itunes restore section... that would help alot.

Apple is selling iPad 2s right on their online store website - TODAY - and they are fully capable for iOS 8.0.2!

I would suggest putting your iPad 2 back in "factory fresh condition" just like the ones that Apple is selling today.

Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

Don't forget to do your backup first, before you start fiddling with your iPad.

Hello everyone. IOS 8 consumes much more resources than previous OS for IPad. I do have an Ipad 2 and it was really slow. What I did is disabled every advanced, processor consuming option. It is not blazing fast, but it is usable. I will wait and see what about battery consume.

Steps. (all of them in settings)

1. Disable almost all notifications. Just leave Faceime, app store and family

2. Disable Control panel (the one that pops when you slide your finger upward from the bottom/outside of the screen). It will still be available from start screen.

3. General/accesibility. reduce movement. YES. Maybe this one is a big processor consumer.

4. General/accesibility. Subtitiles for deaf person. OFF

5. Screen background. Choose any static one. Do not use any dynamic one

6. itunes& app store. Disable every automatic download

Maybe there is more options somewhere to disable some other thing. The objective is to disable every thing that keeps the device connected to the internet, uses graphic /drawing goodies, and may consume processor.

Hope it helps and if someone has suggestions about, I will be glad to try, so please do it.

Its rubbish wiping out and restoring... I did that and yes its better but still an unpleasant experience. Prior to iOS8 the tablet worked fine... I hate using this tablet since the upgrade. How hard was it for Apple to test it out on an Ipad 2 and say ... Nope! Its not going to be pleasant so dont offer the upgrade. I would have been fine with that! Now not only do they claim everything is fine but when things dont work they take away the ability to rollback! I would have been fine even if they said try it out and if you don't like it you have the ability roll it back.

I have already starting looking at alternatives and they are NOT Apple products. I am tired have the same old BS Apple puts out - little to no innovation and the quality has also suffered. Unfortunately the Apple of yesterdays is no longer.
