"Unable to download item. Please try again later. "

Hello. After updating to iOS8, whenever i turn off and power my phone, I receive a pop-up "Unable to download item. Please try again later. " at first I thought it was an app gone rogue but in the appstore I did not see anything suspicious. After resetting and restoring my device the pop-up kept appearing. By mistake I discovered that if I open the iBooks app the pop-up appears every time. I hace never bought or downloaded any book from here, ever. Did you encounter this error? do you have any suggestions for Me?

thanks

iPhone 5s, iOS 8

Yes that fixed it for me as well.

I always used to get the message "Unable to download item. Done. Retry" and I had no clue what it was after looking EVERYWHERE.

Then, today I reset the network settings for something unrelated, and I happen to get the message "Unable to Download Item 'Digital Booklet - Songs of Innocence' could not be downloaded at this time. Done. Retry". I was sure this was the culprit!!

I then went on my iTunes library on my computer I noticed I still had the U2 album so I deleted it. It was previously deleted from my iPhone and also hidden from purchases on my itunes account. I also kept reading this thread and followed the link to apple's tool to remove the U2 album (which essentially just hides it from your previous purchases, it says you must delete it from devices that you downloaded it on anyway).

Now I signed out of iTunes on my iphone from the iTunes app, restarted my iphone, signed back into iTunes, and no more pop up message. Even after opening iBooks. **** YEAH.

I Have solve the issue. I no longer get the dialog box. I figure it got something to do with the iCloud. After resetting and clearing out my iPad the error kept popping up. So finally I went on iTunes on my laptop and restored my iPad once again but this instead backing up and restoring from backup or iCloud i created a new iPad then I reaynced my iPad with new download of my favorite apps. Problem solved haven't seen the pesky popup box since. Simple isn't. Hop this helps. I'm feeling ingenious

Good job Barbara. You had a software glitch of some sort and you did exactly what what needed to be done.

Could this be the solution?

http://support.apple.com/en-lb/HT201396 I just tried it, and will keep you updated on the progress. If there are no more posts from me, you can be sure it worked. I just noticed the U2 album was in my cloud, even though I never physically did anything to download it. I truly thought you had to actively go out of your way to get it on your devices. Anyhow, fingers crossed this worked.

Been happening to me for a while now. 5s, running 8.1.2

Annoying thing is... it started happening a lot yesterday, so I went on my Mac and tried a few things regarding Digital Booklets and such, and it actually stopped for most of the day. But then it came back- felt like flushing the phone down the toilet. What's MOST frustrating is that you know Apple knows about this but they won't fix it.

Any new thoughts on a solution? ANYONE?
