iPad Air, iOS 8 and random reboots with blue screen

I Updated my iPad Air 16gb wifi model with iOS 8 yesterday and since then I am facing random reboots with blue screens. Is this a known issue or am I in trouble ?

I have been chasing the apple customer care, online, for a month and seem to have finally found a permanent solution to this problem. I was told that it might have happened because of some network issues during the iOS OTA update, which might have resulted in some corrupt OS data on the iPad. Doing a factory reset installs the 'corrupt' files on the iOS again. Taking a full backup on iTunes and then restoring doesnt get rid of the 'corrupt' OS as well. The 8.0.2 update was an additional update and not the entire OS was downloaded fresh. I was advised to do the following :

1) Backup all important stuff to the iCloud (not on iTunes)

2) Connect the iPad to a PC/Mac and use 'Restore iPad' option (not the 'Restore from Bakcup' option)

3) The entire and latest iOS version will be downloaded on the PC/Mac, after which a fresh OS will be installed on the iPad

4) Setup the iPad as new, install fresh copies of apps from the App Store and restore your important stuff from the iCloud backup

My iPad Air has not restarted randomly for the past 3 days. Hope its a permanent solution and i dont get to see the BSODs any more. Please do try and let me know your side of the story.

I've tried that 2x and the issue returns. I am trying again but this time I am deleting the downloaded .ipsw file from /Users/username/Library/iTunes first and letting iTunes download it again.

Odd that my issue is not quite the same. I do not get a blue screen. The screen goes black with vertical lines and reboots. It almost looks like a video driver issue.

Time will tell.

same here, apple Genius Bar in store told me a faulty graphics chip/hardware was to blame... I declined their offer of £199 (iPhone 5s) to swap it out as only purchased it from eBay that week. iPhone now returned to seller (who I believe 100% was honest) and has now refunded me.

Very strange goings on gs on at apple... iPhone first went blue then restarted (took ages), then lie again but restarted very quickly 10 mins later. That night 3x restarts waking me up!... Then instore blue, black & white stripey effect!... To black. Phone u/s said the genius, beyond economical repair.... 30 mins later and on my way home it started again as if there was never a problem!... Restore, fresh install, no backup just left as new iPhone and bingo... Blue screen... Restored agai to get constant connect to iTunes recovery mode... Three attempts later it set up as new phone again!!!... Before going blue!

My worst fear is that something software related has/had permanently damaged something in the hardware makeup... That really would be a cause for concern for not only apple but all the poor souls who's items have been infected!...

ps. My seconds 5s has arrived today... Do I risk my old backup tonight?...

those who are following up my case wirh apple...

just today I got a call from apple, they said:

its confirmed software issue and their engineering team has already patched the bug.. it's expected in next iOS update, either iOS 8.0.3/ 8.1... they couldn't confirm the number...

most possible date is 16th oct...

so don't go into any further pain and bear with it for a couple of days more...

hoping for magic, literally...

in any case, iOS 8 is apple's most unstable & worst update ever, trust me, I'm on iOS since iOS 3...

what happened to the great Developer beta programme,? seems like a joke.

Dear apple,

don't ruin our lives by rushing massively unstable software updates just because you are launching new hardware... (iPhone 6)

and PLEASE bring Scott Forstall back. he was fired for Maps disaster but anyone has guts to ask for accountability to Johnny and iOS team for the worst iOS release? where is FairPlay? what is our fallback for botched iOS update where we can not use our devices for more than 10 minutes?.. Jobs immensely cared for even how to reduce few seconds from boot time, but this bug restarts our devices out of blue and we have to wait till the loop gets over... every day we are wasting minimum 600 - 1000 seconds of our lives while our device is rebooting, thinking if Jobs was alive today, he would have fired all those iOS team member who made our lives ****...

its self explanatory now... Johnny can't handle this load on his own.. (sorry).

having worst experiences while using various Apple products in last one year...

introspection? yes please... "Customer God" needs some sacrifice.

apple replaced me a new ipad as my is still under warranty.

HOWEVER, i only have 2 options, which is 1) no back up and stick with IOS 7 until new IOS 8 update 2) get back up and face the problem again !!!?

i mean "really ? what is the point to get the replaced then, my ipad is in perfect condition as not like i need a new one anyway ? i have all my uni works there so i HAVE TO GET my back up. there is no guaranty that the problem wont happen again.

im so disappointed apple and this is unacceptable !!!!!!
