After iOS 8 update: "This accessory is not supported by this iPad" using Digital AV Adapter on iPad 2

After the update to iOS 8 on an iPad 2 I receive the error: "This accessory is not supported by this iPad" using a digital AV adapter. It works for about 20 seconds before I get the error. Same adapter worked with iOS 7.1, same adapter still works on my iPhone 4s with iOS 7.1.

Curious if anyone else has this issue. The adapter is not a genuine Apple adapter, so I think I'll just buy an official Apple adapter, but I'd love to hear if anyone else has upgraded to iOS 8 and can still use their digital AV adapter on iOS 8 with iPad 2, and what brand of adapter you have. Thanks!

I also am having same problem have iPhone 4s and was using non apple AV lead , was working perfectly before latest update to iOS 8, Have been looking around and have seen a few people had the same problem when iOS 7 update first came out so I'm waiting for next update before I go and buy a genuine Apple lead (which isn't cheap)

I'm using a genuine VGA accessory and it is not working, are Apple going to fix this? Should have waited to upgrade but thought that they would have fixed most of the bugs by now! Running IOS 8.1.3 on an IPAD 2.

There were some iPhone fires caused by off-brand cables and Apple was blamed. IOS-8 ensures that only approved cables will be used. However, it appears that it has been incorrectly identifying true Apple cables as non-approved!

If your cable is not Apple, your only option is to replace it with an Apple cable. If you do have an Apple able, you need to contact Apple support - 800-275-2273 in the U.S.A. and I think Canada. If an Apple Store is convenient for you, a visit there is probably a better solution.

Decided to get another VGA adapter ensuring it was a genuine product, cost me £24 and it works fine. Compared the new one with the old and I now think imy old one was not a genuine Apple product after all.

I got the same problem after updating my ipad2 to IOS8.3 even I got the original cable from apple store. Apple should respond to our issue as I don't believe my cable should just turn to trash merely because of the IOS update.

If you are using an older 30 pin to Lightning adapter and connecting that to a 30 pin to vga, it will not work...even though it is an Apple product. You have to use a Lightning to VGA adapter. I tried it and worked. Confused why Apple authentic item wasn't working previously (using the little 30 pin to Lightning adapter), but getting/using a lightning to VGA works perfectly, FYI. But I highly recommend Apple TV, you can choose AirPlay without hooking up any wiring.
