Problems with Airplay in iOS 8?

Anybody else lost the ability to stream audio to a third party speaker or receiver since upgrading to iOS 8? I have an Airplay compatible Pioneer receiver that I used to stream music to from my iPhone 5S without issue. Since upgrading to iOS 8, it's no longer an option in Control Center. Using iTunes on my MacBook Air, it still works fine. The receiver pops right up as an Airplay option and the music streams as it should.

So, I know it's not a wifi issue or anything wrong with my Pioneer receiver. I've started seeing this same issue pop up on some third party support sites from users who've upgraded to iOS 8 but haven't seen anything here on the Apple forums yet.

Hoping I'm not alone ... any ideas?

I agree, this is not an issue of finding the icon in the control panel as others have noted. For those of us on iPads streaming to receivers it has always been in the control panel. The current issue is that with the current iOS release (8.0.2) the "Airplay" button appears intermittently in the control panel. Additionally, when it does appear and you select your device, it does not stay connected. If it drops the connection and then you go back to control panel you find the "airplay" button has disappeared. When it eventually returns, all is good....and then it is not again.

This is a new issue for me since "upgrading" the OS. Prior to this for the past year this worked flawlessly.

For those who will want to ask:

iPad Air (although same issue occurring with 2 iPhone 5

Receiver: Yamaha RX-V667

Streamed media: iTunes and iTunes Radio

I have been having the same problem with my iPad 4th gen and my Fidelio AD7000W. On the advice of someone earlier in this thread, I recycled the power on my router, iPad, and Fidelio. Lo and behold, the Airplay speaker appears in Control Panel. Listening to Frank Morgan as I type.

Shouldn't be necessary to go through this hoo-hah, but if it works, I guess I'll do it. Still waiting another week or two before I touch my other Apples, though.

I am having similar issues with AirPlay on my iPhone 6+.

Streaming audio to to an airport express, and it keeps cutting out.

Every 40-60 seconds it seems, there will be a little pause/skip.

Highy annoying!

The only thing that fixes it is resetting network settings, but the problem comes back after a few hours.

I've been resetting 3-4 times a day, and of course have to re-enter all my network passwords and preferences.

The problem also comes back immediately after syncing to my Mac, til I reset network settings again.

I Updated airport express to the latest firmware and iPhone to 8.0.2, but no change.

🙂

OK, so I finally have my iPad 2 streaming to my Pioneer VS1122K, and have yet to try streaming to the Pioneer A2.

This was done leaving the Pioneer receiver on (not sure this is important, but want to be thorough), then I went to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network.

Then the iPad cycled, and came back on, and I had to re-connect to my home wifi.

Then in Music player, in the AirPlay icon, the stereo came up as an available destination, clicked it, and it is streaming now.

I'm hoping this works for everyone else as well...

Ok, maybe this will help others --- I have tow iPad Air, 2 iPhone 5 and an iPhone 6. I was experiencing the same trouble. I attributed to the iOS8 upgrade. However, I was finding that I was having the same trouble with my devises that were not upgraded. So, I reset the access points and the routers as well as rebooted my Yamaha receiver. Then I rebooted the iOS devices (all of them). Once I cycled through all of this I now see the receiver in the Airplay pane in control center and the Airplay pane shows up all the time in the iOS devices. In a couple of instances it took 30 seconds or so to show up the first time, after I started playing the media (radio in iTunes). So far so good -- all devices have worked without interruption for the past two days.

I don't know the root cause sorry.
