Two iPhones ringing same time

Synced both my wife's and my phone to my Macbook to update to iOS 8 tonight. Both appear good to go. Five minutes ago, someone called my wife's phone and both our phones rang. Checked in the FaceTime settings and the appropriate boxes are checked for each phone. Still, her's appears to be forwarding to mine.

I shut off her phone, called it from the house line and mine did not ring. Only appears to be issue when her's is on. For the life of me, cannot figure out what needs to be changed in the settings.

If both devices are sharing the same Apple ID and are on the same Wi-Fi network, this is what will happen. It is part of continuity. Go into Settings>Facetime>iPhone Cellular calls, and turn that off. This will only occur when both devices are logged into the same Apple ID and Wi-Fi network.

Question for you: If my 15-year-old son has a different Apple ID than me can I still use my iPhone or iPad to use Find My iPhone to find his iPhone? Or does that only work under the same Apple I.D.?

You could use the Find My iPhone app to locate his device if you have his Apple ID and password to log into iCloud with. Without that, you would not be able to locate his device.

Fido in Canada charge me an extra 72 $ of Internet because of that. I was traveling in Europe. I've already had an iPhone 5s unlocked using a prepaid France card and number. Just before my travel I got a locked iPhone 5s Fido. Updated both to iOS8 before my trip. In Europe both phones were ringing at the same time. Even if the cellular data on my Canadian phone was off (to use only WiFi), because of that new feature it used anyway data on the network of the french provider associated and I was charged by Fido (Rogers).

My daughter and I share an iCloud account, even though she has her own, because she is a minor, and she has bought music through iTunes that she can only get downloaded if she is signed in with my account.

Now, we followed the advice and turned off cellular calls under Facetime. However, she missed four calls while the two of us were standing beside each other because her phone didn't ring.

Any idea why that would happen?

This has happened more recently to me and its because of a new feature in IOS9 called "Calls on other devices"

After I recently upgraded from ios8 both my and my wifes phone would ring on an incoming call. The only difference was that on her phone it said "from iphone'.

I checked this forum and noticed all the suggestions but they didn't seem to work. Then i had a poke around in the settings myself under the phone menu i found "Calls from other devices". This was activated on both phones and was activated by default when the upgrade from ios9 happened. It had listed my wifes phone and my phone respectively on each handset and also included the ipad for good measure. I imagine this new setting was incorporated to pair with the iWatch.

I switched this off and the problem was fixed.
