New iPhone 6 - with wabbly mute button

Just picked up my new iPhone 6 128G Grey from our local Apple Store (fantastic reservation system). Whilst the unit is solid and like past iPhones, I noticed the muted button is wabbly in both on and the off positions (straight out of the box). Most uncharacteristic of Apple and iPhone products.

Anyone else seeing similar on their 6 devices?

I strongly suspect it's a manufacturing/component issue but is interested in knowing how widespread or if it's even a norm for the unit.

Already have a Genius appointment for Sunday and will see what they have to say.

I have same Problem. But the waggling is minimal. But if u shake my Iphone 6 in the vertical direction you can hear it a little bit.

What should i do now? Its still in the 14 day timeline and yes, i have Apple Care+.

All i can read all over Google tells that i am not alone with this problem, so could it be that mostly of the first Iphone 6 have this problem?

Should i wait several months until the problem is fixed? Seems logical to me.

Really sad, that such a super Product has this failure in production.

I love my Iphone 6 very much, and i dont want to be without it. Even not for 1 or two weeks. I need it. Its the best smartphone i ever hold in my hands.

I think you had luck, i heard about similar problems with the Iphone 5s power button, it wiggled. And most of the people who checked that, exchanged their Iphone 5s up to 3 or 4 times. Always with the same propblem.

So i think its strategically better to wait until the problem with the jiggling mute button is fixed.

I think its a problem in the industrial production.

I hope Apple will give a statement about it. Is it in normal industrial tolerance or can we wait for a solution?

I cannot send my Iphone 6 64 GB 3 or 4 times until i get with luck a Iphone 6 with no jiggling buttons.

By the way my Iphone 5 worked perfectly and has solid buttons, its nearly 2 years old now.

Congratulations on your new iPhone 6.

Within 24 hours, I have had two iPhone 6 Plus.

The first time for me to splurge a big amount of cash on an Apple product, given that I have always been on a contract for the last few years. Very happy to be able to get it very soon, but problems keep cropping up. You may think this is trivial but I do believe a phone device that's advertised at £700 should NOT be manufactured to have rattling buttons/noise, especially when Apple claims that how meticulous they are when it comes to designing an iPhone.

Both iPhones have loose buttons and this includes its volume buttons, switch button, power button. A replacement was given without hassle in the Apple Retail Store, but the same issue exists, unfortunately. Worse still, I can somehow hear the rattle if wobbling the phone slightly. Now, this sounds like a carelessly designed or cheaply built product.

I guess this is similar to having a brand new car, any part/component that rattles unexpectedly sounds broken to me.

I have spoken with Apple Care numerous times and their customer service was utterly atrocious and unprofessional. Been put on hold on the phone for 20 mins and came up with one solution: you need to visit the Apple Retail Store.

I now await the Apple Store to email me when they have topped up the stock. God knows how many times I ought to swap with a bloody phone with SOLID buttons that do not rattle!

Same issue here also. Had my 6 for about 8 weeks, and now the mute button seems spring biased to be in the Mute position, and the phone is stuck in muted even if the switch is operated.

Just found a temporary workaround until my Genius bar appointment later today: Settings, General, Accessibility, Assistive Touch, ON, tap the circle, then Device, then you see a 'soft' mute control that overrides the 'hard' switch.

I hope my Apple bod is aware of all these problems and doesn't quibble!
