IOS 8 won't sync music with itunes
After updating to IOS 8 on my Iphone 5, all of my music was removed. I tried resyncing it with Itunes - however once completed no new music has gone across.
Anyone know how to fix this??

I Think I may have stumbled on a possible fix(well it worked for me, anyway)...
Since ios 8, there's been a handful of songs that simply refused to sync, no matter I did. I restored from a local backup, set up as a new phone and restored from an iCloud backup, restored via iTunes and OTA, but the same issue remained.
Somehow, I noticed during one of these, that the OS has iTunes Match turned on by default, even though I always have it turned off on my iPhone(iOS 7x honoured my setting from the backup).
When I updated to iOS 8.02 just now, via iTunes, the first thing I did(before any syncing took place), was to turn off the defaultly-turned on iTunes Match toggle. I then unchecked 'Manually manage music and videos' & 'Convert higher bit rate songs to 128kbps AAC' in iTunes, before syncing.
That seems to have fixed everything, as my entire checked library now syncs as before, when on iOS 7x.
WWas it luck? Possibly, but give it a try. YMMV.
So apparently iCloud back up and iTunes Match are turned on by default. Unchecking them did help some people. Anyone else found that this is the problem/solution?
ive figured it out..
in itunes wifi sync is checked
go to the phone handset and GENERAL --- ITUNES WIFI SYNC and SYNC NOW

This worked for me, after multiple attempts to restore from cloud and iTunes. I still have about a 10 song count difference between iPhone and iTunes, but MUCH better than the 1700 song count difference I had earlier. Thank you so much for posting this.
🙂🙂🙂
now its stopped again!!! lol AAAAAHHHRRRRRRRRRR
now I've gone into the iPhone on iTunes.....
Music......Sync Music.......and checked Selected Playlists, music blha blah...
now its working again
I think it's going to take Apple fixing this in a rev. I've now discovered the song library on my iPad has also evaporated since I "upgraded" it to iOS 8. I'm going into the Genius Bar Sunday. Hoping for a miracle before then. I've owned every model of iPhone since it has been released and have always been impressed/amazed at how clean the updates and upgrades are. This is a disappointment.
I also have an iPhone 5 and experienced this same defect. Very frustrating and annoying, would think Apple would test syncing on iP5's. I semi got it to sync for me... after numerous resets and failed sync attempts... I got it to kinda work for me. Realized it would sync for me if I only synced a handful of playlist totaling about 800 songs, but if I tried to sync all my playlist with over 4,000 songs it would fail every time. I suggest syncing a handful of playlist first and see if that works. Then backup your phone and try to add more songs, that way if it fails you can use the backup with some songs -- some is better than none. I haven't tried the backup then try to add more part of it yet, that's what I'll try to do later, but for now I don't want to screw it up and have to do it all again. Come on, Apple... read our complaints and fix this defect in iOS 8. Thanks.
I don't want to pay $28+ a year for tunes I BOUGHT on a CD and loaded into MY COMPUTER to load into MY DEVICE. I've tried everything but it sounds like they won't let me load my property into my phone unless I buy iTunes Match. Wow! .....genius. Time for a different brand phone at this point.
This all has happened before. I found this discussion about iOS7:
http://www.any-data-recovery.com/tips/iphone/music-not-syncing-after-ios-7-updat e.html
It has some new tips. I'm away for the weekend so I can't try them myself.
I also found this discussion, the tip with iExplorer looks interesting (the long answer from GenErik):

I have been at this for days trying to solve this problem. I have been to the apple store and the genius (yeah right) said have you restored your phone. "NO! Its brand new!"
I have been on the phone with applecare and had a senior advisor call me and we thought we were on the right track after he had me turn off Match on the computer as well as the phone (it was already off) and we turned off "show all" in iTunes & app store. I am getting the grayed out music with the red download button and only getting partial albums of albums that do sync.
Before and after I click a song to play.
When I unsync my music, it still leaves music on my phone (7gb ) and after syncing several times since my computer says it has 8.36 gb.
This fixed it, but know all the art work is screwed up, go figure😕
I'm having the exact same problem.
Doesn't work for me. I can sometimes get the songs I want on by erasing all the music and only syncing one or two playlists but then they get borked in subsequent syncs. None of the solutions suggested in this discussion have worked.
