New iPhone 6 4.7 getting hot and battery draining fast, Not a good start. Has anyone else had this issue?
iPhone 6??????
Exact same issue, except on a 128GB model. I felt as if the battery drain and heat output were related - something is drawing a lot of power, generating a lot of heat and draining the battery. iOS 8 does have some tools to look at battery drain, and does show the app store accounted for 58% of this morning's drain. After that, home and lock screen have had 19% and messages 7%.
I've tried turning off automatic updates (settings > iTunes & app store > automatic downloads > updates > off). The phone seems to have cooled down, but it's too soon to say if this has helped the battery situation. Could anyone else confirm if this has helped significantly?
This shouldn't be a permanent solution - I don't expect to have to turn features off to be able to hold my new iPhone, but if this is the problem, it should be fixable in the software.
I haven't had the chance to use it enough for a meaningful reading of battery usage although, like you, I expect it will be connected to the heating issue. I just downloaded a few books and the phone quickly became too hot to handle comfortably. I'll try turning off auto updates and will let you know if it helps.

II'm using iPhone 5s I alreafy update to iOS 8 but I'm unhappy with it.. I want it back my old iOS 7... How should I do it please help
There's no going back.
My iPhone 6 128GB is burning up doing almost nothing... Loading movies from my MacTop
Like I won't hold my phone its so hot
I don't see an issue with the battery yet. YET being the key word. But I am a bit concerned about the heat issue. I picked mine 6 up an hour ago and one of the first things I noticed was how hot it is getting. I haven't had this issue with the iPhone 5. Lets see if this continues.
Yes, on my iPhone 6 64GB 4.7" I'm in the UK. Set up as restore from iCloud backup from my previous iPhone 5. It got so hot playing goat simulator for ten minutes that I had to put it down. Not a great start, hopefully it's software related.
I am having the same issue. Only a matter of minutes out of the box and setting it up and it started getting hot. Contacted chat and they were really unhelpful. Suggesting the phone was warm from my hands!
I had the same problem until I restarted the phone. You could give that a try.
I will respond to the size, design and feel question as well. After picking up the 6 and 6+, I like the size of the 6 but I prefer some of the functionality of the 6+. Such as the rotating home screen and the image stabilization. The digital stabilizer in the 6 works well so that's not as big of a deal for me. I can't comment on the picture taking yet but I think I will be impressed with the quality. I like how thin it is and the screen size is nice. It should be interesting to see how apple pay works. More will come from testing and playing on it.

Same here - very hot just going through various setup procedures! 128GB iPhone 6.
Though it seems to cool down very quickly too.
It may be a 'feature' like AppleTV 1 where the case is designed to dissipate heat 😮
OK on an AppleTV1 you didn't have to hold!
Seems I've got the same problem. New iPhone 6 64gb space gray gets hot and battery drains very fast. Doing not very intensive things like messaging and broswing the web.
My iphone 6 plus getting hot very quickly less 2 minutes
It's unlikely any of us have 'fully charged' our new phones and run them to zero so the battery life indicator may not yet be calibrated well.
Heat is another issue.
Oh no! Reading this thread is scaring me. I haven't gotten mine yet.

It's not that scary really. Out of the millions sold very few have problems. Only those who are having issues come here for assistance, the rest you never hear from. I just got notice my 6 is being shipped out today so I'm looking forward to using it in a week or so.
